Please fix the fires! I beg you!
Ever since playing again with the update -- the fires are legit killing both my companions iv had since the beginning of the game Virginia and Kelvin are amazing. However, they are having issues staying amazing because they are constantly walking through the fire and light right up like a Christmas tree just to take a piece of meat I threw down. Please help :( I hate watching them fall down over and over and over again.

Fires don't "kill" either of them; fires reduce their health. Cannibals don't "kill" them. Mutants don't "kill" them. But you, the player, can kill them.
It's the fire's fault?

Kevin stays in fireplace and feels good. You kill him with Molotov and fire arrows.
After hit Kelvin it stays on ground, if you hit second time, it dies. Or you can resurrect him and he will be fine.

Okay I meant Virginia keeps literally falling down then I have to help her back up every single time......Same with myself - I cant even eat meat out of a quick fire -- anyone have more suggestions? Also, with the cannibal comment, they get attacked and fall down if it hits them enough but they have been also charging and for some reason my virgina is their target while fighting me so I can't get to her in time to revive her. Strange...

not exactly what I mean -- I make fires for when Virginia is with me for quick meat **she loves her meat**cooking but eats the legs and arms when in the fire.
When Kelvin and Virginia are downed, try to draw the attention away from them, else you could accidentally kill them while in combat. As for them walking into the fires, you can't control that.

I wonder why this happens for some people and not others. I've logged a lot of time into this game and they rarely catch themselves on fire, it does happen but it's random. I'll see them standing or sitting/sleeping in the fire and not burn but the odd time they do burn. you could elevate your camp fire or use the fireplace i guess.

You don't have to help either Virginia or Kelvin when they're downed; they will recover on their own. It's your choice.

I don't do anything. they just randomly walk through the fire pit and there's not much that i can do, except watch.

i usually don't help them, but i do try to get the fight away from them. I have had Kelvin get in between myself and a cannibal in mid swing and I am left saying "Dang! I laid out my boy!"...lol

Kelvin take a break on fire, so it not even burn. Single player Ultra hard difficulty. Of course if you hit him with Molotov or torch, he will burn.

It was the fire's fault for killing my companions, whom I had to try and save using a bloodied spear. I didn't kill them. No, no, I was trying to quell the fire with a wet spear. I had specifically moistened it with the blood of a turtle. Alas, it didn't seem to help. By the time I had finished putting out the fire, they stopped moving. Oh, blasted fire. This is definitely a bug worth mentioning to everyone.

JK... In all seriousness, they should make the AI more aware of designated fireplaces, which aren't traps. There's a lot of stuff that truly is annoying, and these bugs are part of the overall package of frustration factors.

Something else that pisses me off about the enemy AI is you can stand in shallow water, like super ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shallow, and I'm talking about the beach areas, and be totally invincible to melee attacks because none of them want to engage you in a fight. They could rush in, but for some reason, the path-finding on the beaches were never polished to properly account for the shallows.

Making it kind of sad how easy it is to shoot arrows at enemies that seem to not want to fight back, barely 3 feet into the water. It's very unrealistic and takes me out of the entire experience.
