You can't set wall torches inside caves?

I waited for a long time to finally start playing this game, so I really don't know much about it. I saw that in some video that was possible to set wall torches inside caves, but I'm trying to do the same in once close to my 1st base, and it's all red. Basically nothing that can be set, like a fire, won't be able to.
It's that how is suppose to be?

Wall torches are not the same as the torch carried.


Use your build book. There is a wall torch there. And it does work on cave walls, as of yesterday.

I know the difference. And I said, I can't set it. It's all red outlined.

Do you have all the components? if yes, then look for a different position, if that doesn't work, and you aren't using mods, you have a bug.

Yes, I have the components, 1 stick, 1 cloth. No mods, this is my 1st playthough. I can set the torch outside at the cave mouth, I can't find anywhere inside that allow to. I don't think is a bug.

If there are caves that I can set torches, than pehaps this particular cave have a protection agains building inside. Is a small one that need to climb a rope down, two skeletions will fall from the ceiling, and I can find 3 duct tapes, 2 ropes and 2 wallets. Also appear to have a mud wall that pehaps might be opened by explosives, but I'm not trying it.

Sorry mate, sometimes, for no good reason, things don't work.

you can build torches inside caves, yes. dont need a mod. but not all walls are allowed

what cave? i put torches in the first cavern of the ropegun cave as i return there quite a bit for the loot. put torches in the entrances of some of the caves as i sleep there sometimes.you need to walk around with the blueprint of the torch to check where your allowed to put it, some spots it works and other spots it doesn't.

Sir, some caves don't let you build things in there, especially the small caves(without squeeze through animation), the basement of cabins have the same property.
You can try to do that in every caves, you might conclude it as the developers want to prevent some bugs or don't want you to build a base in it.
But most of the massive caves can let you build things in it, only those things listed in the book, and simple stick construction.

I think it doesn't work in caves without the mod, cause i have tried multiple times on multiple playthroughs and it never works even in the cabins above some of the best cave possible bases that are shown in videos while some of the parts of the items in the cabins allow wall torches and you can build beds and stuff on the cabin floors. Some of the walls or support beams don't allow even wall torches and i have yet to get wall torches, beds, storage and others to work in the cave parts that videos show as possible. i don't think it's a bug i think its a modded only feature or thru console commands.

i think cave without animation to enter can;t build anything . i try it on cave on nightvision location i cant put tent or wall torch . but when enemies came down to the cave when i skin the creepy armor it takes me to the ground , i think its like a bug.
