Tips for marking off caves I've completed; not enough GPS Markers.

I've got a terrible memory in general. In the original The Forest, I used map markers all the time with caves by having a color for 'unexplored' and for 'finished'. It was super helpful especially if I took a break from the game. Even more so an extended break.
That is one of the largest reasons I still haven't finished this game yet despite absolutely loving it and all its mechanics. Every time I take a break from this game, I remember all that I was doing and remember most my progress, but knowing which caves I need to go to next when the map is Sons of the Forest is so massive and not wanting to have to recycle to old caves is super discouraging. And as far as I can tell, there are only 3 GPS Markers and one of them is going to Virginia, so there is basically only 2 GPS Markers. And even more frustrating, some of the caves or hidden bunkers don't even stay shown on the map after you've found some.

TL:DR: I need some tips to mark off caves so if I take a break from the game and come back, I can know which caves I've gone into.

You can at least put down a reinforced stick by the entrance. This means that at least if you get there you know if you've done it or not.

I use a skull lamp to mark cave entrances that I have already explored. Place a stick down. put a cloth on it then a skull and three rocks around the stick so it doesn't get knocked over easily. After a certain point GPS markers build up or you can make them with a 3d printer, circuit board and wire then you can replace the skull lamps with whatever GPS icon you prefer. Just make a reinforced stick and place the GPS marker on it. Make sure to cycle to the icon you want to use before placing it on the stick.

ehmmm the bunkers, you discover via cave entrance, mark them in another way, Refill's ! Ammo food and stuff ;)

You can carry up to ten gps markers at one time. you can also build more. make the gps casing with the 3d printer.
