Does this game always have so many players?

I had no idea that this many people play this game. Like 13,000 people at once. Wow was there an update I missed or is it just really that good playing MP? Well I'll be, it puts some other similar games to shame depending how much stock you want to put into player number counts. Probably one of the most important metrics for the devs and usually indicates a very good game that is still getting better, but not always.

it has had this mass of players since launch.. Its an addictive gameplay loop of slaughtering cannibals and mutants, a decent story, a beautiful and ginormous island for you to explore and build anywhere. and co-op !! literally one of the best co-op horror survival games.
