Rope Gun

I've tried at least a dozen times...just can't get to the rope gun. Too many deaths for me!

Either speed run cave.. have 2 or 3 energy drinks nad hotkey them keep running when u r stamina fully drainz drink one and continue..
Or you can use flyswatter trap and kill everything without having to fight.. after u clear an area just disassemble trao and retrive all resources and replace it in next spot

You can save in caves. It might take a bit but normally if you look down and run in circles for long enough you can place a tarp anywhere in a cave. Run past everything until you find a safer area to place a tarp, and repeat

rope gun is easy you wait until you try and get the shovel.

Do the shovel cave as soon as possible as later on the cave is full wall to wall with mutants and no matter what armour or weapons you will die.

What i did was set up tarps, saved, then dismantled the tarps and moved on.
After an encounter i would skin them to get as much creepy armour as possible, save, and then move on. i did that with the rebreather and rope gun cave.

katana for the babies and blind mutants
arrows / shotgun / grenades / molotovs for the fingers and crawlies

With the shovel cave i just constantly drank energy juice and ran as fast as possible and avoided combat as much as possible

for the cube cave i used the cross on the first few then ran through then saved just before i went through to the cube, that way i could do both endings

completed the story on day 25, stayed on the island and am currently on day 29 (i had stayed up to day 180 but i had so many abandoned bases around the island and deforested so much that i reverted back to day 29 - although i now know how to reforest the island)

I decided not to build anything until i had completed the story (I was attacked so many times i couldn't build in peace, so i didn't bother)

Now i'm free to build to my heart's content.

and i gave Virginia a shotgun and pistol so now we both have firearms

My mistake...I went to the rope gun cave after 60 days of creating a base. I guess the cave gets tougher after a long number of days. I give up and will start a new game and go to the caves earlier.

play on peaceful or custom, stop spawning monsters. then you are fine

Is peaceful with NO monsters? What is stop spawning monsters? I want to get in the caves but with less monsters. But what fun would the rest of the game be with none?

Not sure with peaceful, haven't seem monster in first 2 days. But In custom, you can do a lot of setting, you can custom the number of monster/cannibals, custom the damage they made on you, custom how long one day will be, custom numbers of animals, seasons lot of more. You should check it.

Not sure with peaceful, haven't seem monster in first 2 days. But In custom, you can do a lot of setting, you can custom the number of monster/cannibals, custom the damage they made on you, custom how long one day will be, custom numbers of animals, seasons lot of more. You should check it.

Once a game is started on a setting, can it be changed? I would start on peaceful, then change to a custom setting with various limits but a few cannibals.

I did both Rope and Rebreather at day 50 i think, before nerf patch. Lots of monsters, lots of explosives, was fun...

I'm sure you had quite a battle. I just couldn't get the rope gun. So close, even set up a tent to save just past the gold glitter on walls. So I will be starting a new game, after 58 days.
