Why did the aircraft crash this time?

In the first game there was a whole facility built around a device that could disable vehicles like planes but I couldn’t find the reason we crashed this time. The soldiers even knew about the legacy of the first incident so why didn’t they come prepared with parachutes or on a rowboat or something.

wait, how do we know the soldiers knew of the previous incident? Is this confirmed? I just thought they worked for the puffskins, and was sent to look out for them. The bad guys were sahara in the first game, right? Puffskins (i prolly butcher the name) are not sahara. They had a bid for the island and outsold them, right? Thats kinda why sahara is mad, and trying to kill them off and us.

TBF i also thought it had to do with an EMP blast except I didn't see one.

It crashed because of bullets like you may see in the intro.

Did they know about it? As far as i know they were just searching for a missing Billionair and his Family + Guests on one of his Islands. That there is a similiar artefact like the one from the location of the first game is more of a coincidence and as far as i know there is nowhere mentioned that our character and the other soldiers know about this at all.

And the reason the Helicopter crashes is pretty obvious from the Intro cutscene.
It suffered from a pretty bad case of "Bullet trough the Pilot" which sometimes happens if you get shot at.

They replaced it last second with bullets being shot at the helicopter. In the trailer originally a cannibal was thrown at the helicopter by a monster but unfortunately they didn’t add it in..

In the game we never saw the gun shooting at the helicopter. I doubt it was the revolver. To take the thing down you would need some heavy firepower. Not to mention managing to hit it in the first place.

We can see 2 bulletholes in the helicopter on the sliding door. So we can assume that the helicopter and/or the pilot has been hit which led to the crash.

If you pay attention to the intro, youll see bullet holes in the windows of the helicopter. That should give you a clue :)

I'd rather say you either didn't pay attention then, or your headphones or speakers suck.
When watching the intro there's both a clearly audible shot and an impacting bullet right before the helicopter chrashes.

And for the firepower: that's not been an armored combat helicopter, so a good sniper would have been able taking it down by hitting the pilot.

I'm no expert but it sounds about right what you say. Might a rifle (which is already in the game files but not to be used ingame) be able to penetrate a helicopter at those heights as seen in the intro?


Also, there is another theory, because in trailer 1 we see that the helicopter in front of us has the sahara logo and also the people on the team are different ones - except for the person who's POV we got? So maybe in trailer 1 we see a team from sahara that were taken down by a mutant being thrown at the helicopter and what we see in our actual intros is us coming in after the events with the sahara helicopter from trailer 1.

the person in silver had a two other people with them who had rifles you see them in the banquet hall and in the get down son cut scene so it is safe to say the person in silver was not the one who actually shot down the two helicopters but their buddy's that had higher powered guns then a revolver
