Why would they add stuff to a finished game? Why do so many people expect free updates for life for a $30 game?

they said in an QnA before they decided to release in EA that there are going to be free Dlcs added and this is very likly the case. Endnight is bad a t communication but some news might be revealed in december. I bet they are working on the console release that will come with some small content update for pc players. December might be the month!

More updates are coming. SteamDB shows they are updating a beta branch of the game that we don't have access to periodically. Something is cooking.

Awesome! Good to hear. I'm glad they are still focused on making the game even better.

I dont think they are quite finished, and thats coming from someone who doesnt actually have a lot of faith in them (partly cause im still helping players deal with crap like misnumbered item ids on the cache photos in the last game that would have taken less than five minutes to fix cause we literally have a 9 where an 8 should be situations). They are still uploading to the beta branch, they are still reachable by a specific e-mail, survivalist is still active in forums, this is about the best level of responsiveness you can expect when considering how the first game was handled (sidenote but if you do see this, love ya survivalist, you been amazing as a mod since the first game and my god, its probably a lot to handle. i seen the crap that comes up in forums).

Yes and this is the longest period of time we've had to wait for an update so it might be a big one.

That doesn't mean it should be expected. If it happens cool. If not oh well.

Most games come out with more content and updates after full release. The Forest had tons of updates. Your statements are ridiculous. Most games frequently get content updates and improvements. Why would Sons Of The Forest be any different because it costs $30? That makes absolutely no sense.

Probably nothing substantial. Maybe some little DLC stuff and patches. Don't expect much.

Would have to second this. While i don't think they are completely done quite yet, i also wouldnt expect them to "polish it to perfection" so to speak. Realistically if you don't like the game as it is, dont hold your breathe that it'll get substantially better either. They left the last game with bugs that could have been fixed in under 5 minutes (like one of the treasure hunt-esque "cache photos" technically not existing in the game because it got misnumbered during the item ID update).

Related sidenote, but relating to the expectation of continued updates/support....games also used to come complete on disks to begin with, with 0 updates or longterm support. They HAD to be right the first time because they didnt really get a second chance. Best you got was expansion disks as a form of DLC. Nowadays, you go into early access accepting that the finished product may not be what you wanted, or may not even get finished at all...and when they do get finished (or release their full version at least) there is no actual expectation of continued support. Again, if you don't like the game as you bought it, don't expect it to change. It's nice if it does continue to improve, but its not a requirement either.

Why so defensive? I never said I like nor dislike the game. I could care less about any future updates. This game is a one night stand. I said what I did so people don't get all excited thinking there's something major upcoming.

I don't touch Steam's Early Access program either. Been lied to and deceived by way too many times (Endnight for example). Too many companies use and abuse it to deliver mediocre products while they rake in millions for a sub-par experience.

oh no, the second paragraph wasnt for you my friend. I agreed with your opinion, just wanted to point out that the expectation for constant and perpetual support of a game otherwise its "dead" is unrealistic to a few of the other posters i noticed as well.

Edit: im also a little tipsy so i might not be articulating myself very well currently.

Second edit that probably doesnt matter: i actually have seen you (borg) in the forums a few times and you generally seem to be pretty sensible. I in no way meant to offend you. i actually do have a lot of respect for you as a person from what ive seen so far

There was nothing about your post that was defensive. Some people are just easily offended.
