Why is there no machine gun in this game?

When did they nerve the shotgun? It recently looked very powerful to me.

I always enjoy shooting cannibals in the face with the crossbow when they're wearing golden armor...you know...three or four shots to chip away at it until you can put one between their beady eyes.

this made me laugh...lol . a machine gun that you can use for 10 seconds every 100 days because it would take that long to collect the ammo for 10 seconds of use :)

You know a single machine gun mag holds a lot more ammo than a pistol or shotgun right? Soldiers dont go into battle with 10 bullets if they're holding a machinegun...

You do understand that this game is played on an island with limited resources, especially when it comes to ammunition, right? That was the point of @wildguy's post. You can run all over the island and find a couple dozen rifle rounds. Do you actually think the devs would provide a subgun with buckets of ammo so you can go full-scale Rambo on the natives?

my point was the lack of ammo. I get along just fine in this game but collecting ammo can become a bit of a obsession. when i log in (pretty much every time) i go on my rounds to collect more ammo, that's my motivation and while i'm doing that i collect the other things like rope/tape etc.. i end up stock piling a lot of items, more than i'll ever need. I like having hundreds of rounds so this is what you need to do.
