So I played a little less than 4 hours so far - and spend almost the same time reading and watching actual guides and Let´s Plays.

So I would summarize those lessons like this: "Winter will come by day 10. By then, you should have done all ypur basic exploring, and stockpiled a lot of dried food. You should have a base with a palisade earlier than that."

Now I´m asking myself: "...but how?" Having watched tutorials, I´m not wasting any ingame time trying to figure out how to make that tree fall or how to build that basic cabin. But still, things need time.

Here´s what I have done so far:
- day 1 exploration. Found food that saved time on the following days.
- day 2 started a base at the north (?) beach (inbetween the beach spawn point and the premade camp with tents where food seems to spawn each new day). Base is at the river. After cutting a few trees, it´s too far away from the forest for Kelvin to help, but it´s only 30sec away from a place at the lower end of a cliff to where I can throw logs in bulk from above.
- day 3, a 2x2 frames house is finished by noon. Now trying to build a palisade of half-sized sharpened logs directly at the wall, as I have seen someone do this in a guide. At this time, the Cannibals are sniffing me out in earnest. I read I shouldn´t engage with them, but then I am also supposed to dry food, and they are stealing stuff from my drying racks. So I attack them (was that the mistake?). In the evening, two more sophisticated Cannibals show up and kill me with ease.
- now on day 4 at noon. Palisade around 3/4 of the house is finished. Now want to create a court in front of my door with a higher palisade, which might need another day. Food on drying racks unprotected. Now time yet to befriend Virginia, who´s showing up sometimes. Food and drink almost depleted (I know how to get food but again, time is of the essence).

So, how am I to complete the above "program" until day ten? This is on "normal" difficulty. Again, I am not wasting any time trying to figure out how to do the things I have described.

You could also set your days to long which is what I do. I set both days and seasons to long but you have to do that when first starting the save by picking "custom game". Since you are really new, I'd recommend that for you so that you have time to figure things out. I just set mine to long because I've done it all and am mostly interested in building these days.

As for saving time, you can build a few large log holders at your base and tell Kelvin to fill them up while you go explore. I wouldn't worry about defensive walls that early on, just build a little starter cabin and put traps around the wall and in front of the door. Lock that door and you should be able to sleep through the night without an attack.

You could also build a tree house to start with, those are quite safe. Once you have a somewhat safe shelter to sleep in and keep your stuff in, then you can plan out your mega base and build it up. That's how I do it at least. You can still hunt during the winter btw, animals are just a bit more rare, especially fish. You can find deer or a moose easily though so you wont starve.

Thank you very much! Do you know good guides to traps and locks?

I don't, sorry. As far as locks go, just hold a stick in your hand and walk up to the door from the inside, you'll see the prompt to use the stick to make the lock.
