enemy spawn
It's a good game but the enemy allways spawning in my base is gamebreaking for me. Why building walls and defenses if the enemy just spawn inside your base.

Many, many, many threads about this issue. The best solution, in my opinion, is to build where enemies can't get to you. I've found one rather steep "knob" of a hill that enemies can't climb on the east side of the island that's very close to the cave where you get the artifact machine that buffs weapons. Also on the east side of the island, to the north of the final (luxury) bunker are a cluster of three fishing shacks. You can build atop the one with the slant (shed) roof; you can't build on top of the ones with gable roofs. Finally, there's always saltwater. Build in shallow saltwater away from the shore. Lots of locations around the map. Enemies won't go very far into the saltwater. Those are the safe places I've found so far.

I don’t even bother with walls, sure my cabin takes a hit or two but nothing ever gets obliterated

I had a door get blasted apart by the big stomach creature, or whatever that thing is that goes "bang" in the night.

Personally, i would consider it a better solution for every single person who is annoyed by this issue to make a thread on it, and also adjust their review to Not Recommended. This is because i don't believe it's up to us to be creative (in this case) but rather, it's the devs job to either fix it, or change it if they think it's not broken.

How much is always, every night? Where are you building? I'm asking because i've played at least 25 games to day 60-100+ and for me the spawning in my base is really rare, maybe 5-8 times per game and a few i had none. I have my favorite spot on the beach by the life raft where i almost always build. my current game my base is on the lake with the waterfall (that never freezes, close to the modern axe camp) and i'm over day 60 and had no spawning in my base. I wonder if there are spawn points on the map and you just happened to build on one.

Could the devs not just implement a *Don't spawn within X of player or player structure* ?

It honestly sucks to have an Enemy in your base even though you've fortified it, installed doors, and locked the door.
What's the point of traps? I don't set traps just for daytime defense.

I'm sure it's something as simple as that. :steamfacepalm:

Yeah this is rediculous. Enemies didnt do this in the first game. They made the building so good in this one and there is no point because the enemies spawn 5 feet away

Never had this happen but I don't build huge compounds with defensive walls either so who knows. I just build houses and put various traps all around them. When I get attacked, half of the group usually dies to traps and I clean up the rest.

I also usually build on the beach with my back against the water so the enemies always come from one of two directions and I see them coming long before they get to my base. If you have stairs going up to a door, they will always head straight for those. Put a bone maker trap under the stairs and leave it peaking out slightly. Then put a spinning blade trap right in front of your door, nothing gets in. If your house is slightly elevated even better, put that spinning trap on the ground before you close up the floor so it's at knee level, all their legs get chopped off.

If you build a huge compound they'll likely spawn inside of it, especially at night. I don't get woken up at all really since my base is secure, 9 out of 10 times I sleep through the night. If there is a path to you when you sleep, you'll get woken up and those are the ones that will likely spawn in your base. Lock your door at night before you sleep.

It is interesting to note that enemies always spawn from the same direction. My last house was on the life raft beach. Enemies always spawned in from the direction of the river. Same thing when I stuck up a solafite generator. It never varied. I set up five grinder traps and some spinner traps behind those and the critters never made it through my defenses. And all those heads, arms, and legs chopped off by the grinder traps made a lot of yummy Greg stew.

Yup, that's my favorite spot. You got the river that they can't cross blocking one side and the beach to your back. They can only come running down the side of the river or down the beach to the left. Great place to build but getting stones and down there requires some creativity, pretty easy though with ziplines.

You probably built on the side where that radio is which is why you only get them from one direction, never tried that side.

That's been going on since Early Access. Almost lost my golf cart yesterday after bumping into it with a log sled holder. Thing shot miles up into the air and came down pretty far away. Game didn't get baked long enough in Early Access. It released a couple years too soon.

If the devs aren't capable of controlling the spawns (that they programmed AND set) then they're incompetent.
