I have the same issue with meat not drying with long days/seasons enabled. I pretty much just use the racks as storage for meat until I cook it.

If there are raccoons around your base that's where your fish are going. They can take them from distance, walls/roof/door doesn't make a difference. My lake base had a lot of raccoons and the fish wouldn't stay on the rack long enough to dry (never had the problem with not drying) they didn't take any meat just fish. My beach base never lost a fish off the rack (no raccoons). Filled 3 racks of fish at the beginning of that game and never ate any and i'm on day 96 and the racks are still full.

Probably your settings. Long days is 4 hours per day and long season is 10 days per season. that's 40 hours of real time per season. hopefully your done the game before winter. winter sucks in this game :)

I would think by day 20 something in game that the meat would be dried and not still dripping blood.

Stockpile MREs and a cooking pot full of food. That's all a player needs. Drying racks are honestly more trouble than they're worth.

Yes you are right. i think it takes 2 days in a default game to dry meat so your meat should dry in 4 days. Dry meat kinda sucks with the hit you take to your hydration, as long as the meat doesn't go bad you got a good form of meat storage going on :)

current settings on server that matter - long days, long seasons
Drying times - between one and twenty real world hours
Vanishing Food Sources - Virginia, Kelvin(?), Raccoons
Animals drawn to drying rack but no steal - Seagulls
Things that affect the speed of the drying rack- Being inside, being near a lit fire, being left alone, weather, being in water.

The shortest time is a drying rack indoors in summer with a fire going. Meat, fish, and limbs will dry in about half a day (one-two hours in my world)
The longest time is about a week in game. That's a drying rack outside with rain/snow in winter, with some or all of it in water (shore line or river ankle deep or more) and no fire or torches near it. Anything that would have taken longer than a week on the drying rack has usually spoiled before it finished so I don't have any of the 20 days meat still raw observed to go on.

When the meat/fish/limb is dry I've been able to store it on a shelf without npcs bothering it. So far no missing flesh. Raccoons, Virginia and Kelvin don't seem to take things from the shelf, also seagulls aren't attracted to it. 7 meat will stack, 3 fish, or 2 limbs. With 4 spots on single shelf or 12 spots on a tri-shelf you can math out how much can be stored in an area.

Calorie consumption is about 2-3 pieces of dried meat per day. (Very thankful that day length affects hunger/thirst ... hate games where my char is eating 50k calories a day because they need 3 deer and half a dozen rabbits of meat every day just to survive: I have hunger damage off, but no food, no water, no sleep means almost no stamina.)

edited: raccoon -rac = a censored word apparently. I'm glad I don't know why nor do I want it explained or to look it up, but I wanted to remove it.

OP just chug down 20 berries and you'll never go hungry.
jokes aside, meat is kind of not worth it imho.
it spoils quickly and there's plenty of alternatives.
