That's a shame, atmosphere enhancements like that are really important man. The audio in general just isn't what it could be though. A forest has more sound going on than just occasional bird chirping and very quiet wind that doesn't really interact audibly with the rest of the woods. I really wish they did more with it, as the woodland sounds are just not immersive at all
There's honestly been little effort put in, in the environment. A lot of people seem to ignore that much of it is poorly knitted into the game to make the overall experience feel more immersive. Yeah it looks like a forest and has sounds of 'a forest', but it surely doesn't have a forest vibe especially when a company reuses audio asset files where they shouldn't. no real sound variants of wind noise or strength, underbrush movement and sound as they sway while the wind blows on a light or heavy wind day, hardly no creaking tree sounds from wind, snapping branches from heavy winds, no variation of tree species such as Birch or at the very least Poplar, forest floor foliage that would normally be dead is somehow alive and green under the snow, the ground foliage stays the same during all seasons other than berry bushes losing their leaves - yet lakes freeze over, no sign of dead leaves on the ground during the transition of fall to winter, a partially finished skydome of stars, rain and lightening are obnoxiously loud and unrealistic, etc. The cave sounds are quite similar to the forest sounds and fairly lacklustre.
Then there's the wildlife situation which also makes no sense at all. Animals literally everywhere jumping and bounding around the player, etc. Very unrealistic to such a point it breaks the immersion. Moose and Deer exist, but none of their predators - not a single one. We can run the entire map end to end without a single combat encounter if we want, without a single thought or worry of being eaten by an apex predator.
Another sound example is the backpack. Funny when we walk or run in game we don't hear any noise come from backpack as it starts to fill up with certain items that will make noise when they contact each other, etc.
It all boils down to Endnight choosing to save money on production. Lots of companies are doing that today and if you're paying attention close enough, you'll see and hear lots of games out there using the same assets others are, but with a slight reskin or basic sound touching to make them feel more like they belong in the game's world.
So, so much wasted potential and opportunity. It's really a shame that Endnight didn't put a full and true effort into this game. They once said this is the best they can do. I call BS on that one.
You also can run through the caves pretty quickly and survive better, literally running.
No achievement to take down the giant rhino-looking mutant. 'Tis best to run through the caves, although breaks immersion but you survive with more supplies.
You can lift a 800 - 1100lbs golf cart indefinitely.
Idky they added a way to bounce the cart when stuck because it should get stuck when you get stuck and stay there to get covered in vines and such.
All I did was bounce it out of the deep stream.
If Endnight was smart they would include wolves that hunt animals but also hunt you as the cannibals have befriended the wolves or at least give me a fox damn it.
It makes sense that the cannibals would befriend wolves as natives had done.
I find it funny you can drive up to a deer really fast and they won't run away for a few seconds.
No doves or parrots? And still, what is up with this tropical snowstorm?
At least there is a shark...
All they had to do was muffle the rain sounds, pretty easy.
The list goes on and on...
