So much potential wasted... My critique of a good game that could have been 10X better.
Out of all the survival games on the market SOTF easily had the most potential. This game is like a 3 course meal at a fine restaurant, appetizer is amazing, bartender makes an amazing cocktail, but come to the main dish your 20oz ribeye is missing, sure there's plenty of vegetables but you cant feel but be disappointed. Over the year all they did was add vegetables to the main dish while forgetting to cook the steak. There's nothing in this game that wants to keep you there playing and living in it besides just rushing through the story.

The survival mechanics are lack luster which is a shame since they did such a cool job on the seasons. Base building is pointless, there's no reason to have a base. Boats didn't return from the first game which is a major let down as that's another wasted opportunity to need a boat and explore some small islands around the main body. Endnight seriously how hard would that have been?

They for the most part fixed traveling the island with golf carts and the glider but yet the whole island feels kinda lifeless still, not as bad as the EA release but they could have fixed that in so many ways with different cannibal camps fighting each other or random helicopter crashes, random events with NPCs fighting the cannibals that you can save whatever.

The inventory system makes it so you can carry every single item meaning there's no need to plan for trips or worry about managing your inventory , wheres the survival game in that?

No skill tree, perks or anything to make my character feel unique, but eh i guess we have the strength meter hey?

And lastly no Steam Workshop support which they claimed they would add in an interview with Farket and maybe they still will but there's ZERO communication from the devs so nobody has any clue what they will be doing with the game moving forward.

Endnight if you plan on making a 3rd game shed the ego and actually add what people here are suggesting to you with your own unique spin on things. You claim you hired the best developers around the world... And don't make a map huge for the sake of being huge if you wont hire the staff needed to fill it out.

You claimed this was going to be an evolution to the survival genre but you fell way short of that. You have an award winning formula here but failed to add the content needed to see it through.

I agree to some point. Maybe $$$$$s motivates more than imagination.

Gonna take a wild guess and say you never played the first game huh?. This is quite literally an upgraded version of that lol

i doubt that the workshop will actually happen, because then endnight could suddenly look very ridiculous if the community delivers the content that endnight didn't during the whole development process.

500 hours of it actually. Again they stated this game would be an evolution to the survival genre. I fail to see how your comment is relevant to my post.

It's completely relevant to you whining. all your post is, is whining.

The only things that aren't in this game from the first, are teeth and sap for upgrades. the flintlock, and rafts. it's basically the same but continues the story. idk why even write a text wall about it.

People still forget about the fact it was made by like ~15 people and act as if it was some AA/AAA project with their demands. What perks? What skill tree? Why do you think it's supposed to be an RPG game? Your so called "critique" has nothing to do with the game, you just simply want it to be another game, because someone, maybe bloggers made up things and promised things as if they were devs.

You simply lying and trying to act as if you did. You are probably one of them people that watch "recaps" from youtubers then whine about "missing" things that never supposed to be in a game and were made up/wished by that youtuber.
