how to get clean water in early game?

normally in the pre-release version of the game i would just drink water from rivers but now in the full release when i drink dirty water it makes me sick and lowers my health. is there a way to get clean water without using a pot? any help would be appreciated.

Keep yourself stocked with energy drinks and Blueberries. The time wasted trying to accumulate clean water isn't worth the hassle.

found out oysters give you water too. and they are pretty abundant

If you know where the beach crash start is, then cross the water oriented with the nearest cave behind you and towards the injured merc with the red flare. His small camp should have the cooking pot and the machete/kukri.

Can you boil water in the pot? I was trying to boil it, I was boiling it for 2 minutes or something and when i drank, it was still dirty water... Am I doing something wrong?

It's a bit confusing, you actually have to click on the pot to start cooking a recipe. If you don't add anything to the pot, you can only make the "clean water" recipe.

When it starts cooking, the lid closes on the pot and then it opens when it's finished.

I set up an array of 8 rain catchers on my base, seldom run out of clean water, they do freeze in winter!!

Keep the start where you crash on the beach, its the best one. Immediantly follow the coast along the left side, keep the ocean to your left.

You'll hit a small camp with 2 tents. It has the machete and a pot. Excellent way to start the game.

Machete is very under rated too for a starting weapon. It'll do some work until you find something nicer.
