The game crashes after a few minutes.
The game crashes after a few minutes. Sometimes a message pops up on the game's website that I can't read because it disappears quickly. I installed the game again, run it as administrator and all drivers are up to date.
Does anyone have a similar problem? I will note that the temperatures at the ultra setting are not high and the computer does not seem tired.

My computer:
Windows 11 Pro, Intel® Core™ i9-14900KF, Palit Rtx 4090 Gamerock 24GB, Gigabyte Z790 GAMING X, Patriot Viper Venom 2x16GB 6400MHz DDR5 CL32, be quiet Pure Power 12 M 1000W, Noctua NH-D15 2 x140 mm.

best regards, thank you very much for any help.

Same here, after playing multiplayer 1-5 minutes it crashes.

Yeah, me too and I have been spending the last 2+ hours to find a way to fix it but I believe it is not a problem on my end: everything is updated, I have high-end specs, am computer-wise enough so that I've been trying so many things from sound to graphics changes, nothing worked. It seems we will have to wait for some patch(es) I'm afraid...and yeah, it ONLY happens with this game, all my other games work without issues.

Would you be willing to check to see if crash dumps have been generated for these, as well as provide a dxdiag to help us track down the issue?

To find the crash folder, you can paste this into your windows file explorer and then you can zip up the crash folder and email it to evan@endnightgames.com with a description of when you are crashing (On main menu, during load, after loading in and playing for a while, etc)

%temp%\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest

If you do not find a crash folder at the path above, try the following instead
appdata/Local/CrashDumps

Additionally, if you would be willing to provide a dxdiag dump to the email i provided, that would also help.

To get your dxdiag, you can do these steps:

1. press the windows key on your keyboard while on your desktop
2. type dxdiag
3. You should see a 'dxdiag' exe appear in "Best results". The icon is a blue circle with a yellow x. Click this
4. your pc will go through your hardware and drivers, and open a window with all of the data.
5. Click "Save All information" and then take that text file it generates and you can add it to the email with the crash dumps.

weirdly %temp%\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest doesn't exist for me on any of my storage

I will send you an email with the files that you ask Survivalist, thanks ! To G3orge_98: "If you do not find a crash folder at the path above, try the following instead
appdata/Local/CrashDumps" --> go check in there !

I agree. Game version 1.0, deleted old saves and started a new game. For now I’m just running around, collecting resources, not building anything. But on average, once every 20 minutes the game freezes and crashes to the desktop. No directories with errors were created, neither in the game nor in temp windows nor appdata/Local/CrashDumps

You have to get multiple crashes in order to get a dump file and it will be generated in "C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Local\CrashDumps".

As far as I can tell, it has nothing to do with how powerful our computers are as I've tried to put the worst possible settings (everything on ultra low/low/off) and it keeps crashing. My wife's computer is not as powerful as mine and she doesn't have ANY issues playing the game so...

I've just updated my BIOS, Intel chipset and audio drivers (for mic only) even though I use a receiver (latest Nvidia HD audio drivers) and I will test now see how it goes. I disabled the mic under Windows audio settings because I saw there is one ingame that cannot be disabled but either "push-to-talk" or "always active". I'll keep in touch !

...and it keeps crashing like super fast so I guess I'll wait for Evan to come back to us with more as I have no clue how to interprete those dump files (I tried to read one and see if something made any sense to me, to no avail).

Echt schade, hatte gerne gespielt

Update (if it can help someone, mostly devs ;-)): when I get a blue screen and my computer reboots, it says "STOP_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT" on it before restarting the computer. Just wanted to add that. Also just to be clear, most of the time (95% of crashes) it simply goes back to desktop, the game just shuts down.

95% of my crashes are when looking at my inventory, only once I crashed during the helicopter scene

We have just released a hotfix that should resolve the issues with the game hanging on the load screen for some PC setups, please let us know if the issue has been resolved for you once you get the chance to try it out
