loading issue
I can't get passed the loading screen, I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I thought it was just the fact that I was trying to play a pre-release save but then I tried a new game and it still won't load. any ideas on how I can fix this so I can play?

I am also in the same boat. game loads to around 75% in ~10 seconds but suddenly stops, then after about 12 minutes finishes loading into the map. been this way for me since the first time i tried in early access. have tried on 3 ssd drives with multiple reinstalls.

game works fine otherwise just wish i wouldn't have to wait 12+ minutes every time to start playing.

Would you be willing to check to see if crash dumps have been generated for these, as well as provide a dxdiag to help us track down the issue?

To find the crash folder, you can paste this into your windows file explorer and then you can zip up the crash folder and email it to evan@endnightgames.com with a description of when you are crashing (On main menu, during load, after loading in and playing for a while, etc)

%temp%\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest

If you do not find a crash folder at the path above, try the following instead
appdata/Local/CrashDumps

Additionally, if you would be willing to provide a dxdiag dump to the email i provided, that would also help.

To get your dxdiag, you can do these steps:

1. press the windows key on your keyboard while on your desktop
2. type dxdiag
3. You should see a 'dxdiag' exe appear in "Best results". The icon is a blue circle with a yellow x. Click this
4. your pc will go through your hardware and drivers, and open a window with all of the data.
5. Click "Save All information" and then take that text file it generates and you can add it to the email with the crash dumps.

The game is not crashing to desktop. It just stops loading half way through the new game "Sons OfTheForest" screen. The helpful hints in white text continue to change at the bottom of the screen though.

Same issue. I have tried loading into a multiplayer game a friend started and tried creating my own single player game and the Sons of the Forest loading screen gets stuck with the coloring at the top. My mouse is still an hour glass thinking it is loading but eventually I get a process is not loading do you want to wait for program or cancel? I tried wait for program then the question just came up again after like 10 minutes.

I also got successful verification of files but still cannot load
Could you also try reinstalling as well?

Hi, I've just begun after the release and are having the same issue. I read here that it maybe could be something to do with amd cpu's. I am also using an amd and was curious if everyone experiencing this are using amd?

Good to know it is being looked into. Sadly, here it didn't improve.

From the Player.log, it may looks like a thread has problems getting woken (maybe a deadlock waiting for a timeout)? It seems to hang from here:

****** Game Activation Sequence ****** UnityEngine.Logger:Log(LogType, Object) UnityEngine.Debug:Log(Object) LoadSave:Awake() [<color=#FFF>TIMER</color>] LoadSave Awake - Elapsed Milliseconds: 0 UnityEngine.Logger:Log(LogType, Object) UnityEngine.Debug:Log(Object) PerfTimerLogger:Dispose() DontDestroyOnLoad only works for root GameObjects or components on root GameObjects. TheForest.DebugConsole:Awake() [line 828171080] // <--- Line number seems to change

Then after a long time idling it continues from here and the game begins:

Could you potentially try restarting your PC? It seems odd that it would need to be done, but it has helped for at least one other player so far

Still doesn't seem to have any effect.

Thanks for trying it out, Can you email your crash logs and dxdiag along with the details you've provided here in the steam discussions to us? We're looking into the issue and can contact you via that email thread if we come up with another potential fix to try out

Finding your Crash logs:
%temp%\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest

If you do not find a crash folder at the path above, try the following instead
appdata/Local/CrashDumps

Additionally, if you would be willing to provide a dxdiag dump to the email i provided, that would also help.

5. Click "Save All information" and then take that text file it generates and you can add it to the email with the crash dumps.

Email to send it to: evan@endnightgames.com

Thanks for the suggestion, but it sadly didn't help.

I have tested lowest quality and resolution but it has no effect. Otherwise I'm running the game with a maxed out cap on 70 fps, 1080p on ultra settings and everything is great and beautiful.

I'll send in the detail, except the crash log as there are none. Besides the loading issue, the game has been running great.

That would be great, thanks! The DxDiag will help, and we will let you know if we have something else for you to try out

We have just released a hotfix that should resolve the issues with the game hanging on the load screen for some PC setups, please let us know if the issue has been resolved for you once you get the chance to try it out
