So I can't find anything anywhere on this. We dig up the base and only some coins. Nothing else we could figure out.

The Solafite attract lightning, the lightning is just to guide you to it as Solafite on the surface is rare.
Not sure I found the same place as I did not notice a gravestone, it is on the south south east side of the mountain near a glider and campsite.

I've found 8 solafite sites like that in total, all of them are on the snowy mountain.
Sadly there are no real purpose aside from collecting solafite ores, some of them have graves around or dead workers.
There's one with the mini-cave, but nothing interesting inside. I've marked them all with the GPS, so here is a screenshot.

Aha, interesting. Haven't been on top of the mountain since the 1.0 update as it's super difficult to get up there

You still can climb the mountains with spamming jump button, but you have to find a perfect angled place to do that, you can also use Knight V and golf carts.
Sadly you can't climb anything anymore since the December patch, they claimed it's a balancing feature but it's kinda pointless. Also makes the printed sled useless since you can't "legally" climb the top of the mountain without spending a lot of time going around it.

yeah i just did some skyriming, but couldn't climb all the way to the top. Stupid decisions to remove that

We drove up it with golf carts, there's a zig-zagged road that leads you up the moutain on the west/north-west side of the mountain. Road does end at some point and you got to hoof it if you want to go over the mountain.

They don't want people climbing since it defeats the purpose of the gimmicks they added for transportation at the behest of Youtubers. Honestly it's probably the same reason they didn't add a climbing pick like in The Forest as it's too complicated for the "Content creators" to figure out and they kept complaining about how it worked, same with the new terrible soup system.

You can climb any of the peaks; I've done it. You've just got to find the sweet spot, then spam the jump key to get up there. I've sometimes used the rope gun to get up there when I'm in the wrong spot and not willing to go back down to go back up.
