Please Fix the constant attacks when trying to sleep.
UPDATE:
There was a patch March 4th that fixed the issue.
Enemies were glitching through walls, gates, and doors while players slept.
That is why we were being woken up, despite having a fully secured base.

This post was made March 1st, before the patch was added.

The issue has been fixed. It was a glitch / bug.

Credit to PerForatedToast for suggesting Electric Fences.
This helped a lot at the time.

------------------------------------------------------

50% Chance per Sleep for enemies to attack is to high, especially when being inside your house or surrounded by walls seems to do nothing to deter the attacks.

I have a base, I have a house that is surrounded by walls - and STILL I can not sleep a full nights rest without being woken up by "Attacks"

I understand being attacked if I sleep at a basic shelter or tent with no defenses, but nearly every single night I try to sleep I am forced to go outside my base, roam the perimeter, fend off the attack, then go back to try to sleep til morning.
And sometimes I still wake up- AGAIN! To ANOTHER Attack!

I am trying to enjoy this game with my husband but after this update, we are becoming frustrated.

We usually sleep, save, get off the game.
Now it's turned into

Try to sleep - deal with enemies
Try to sleep AGAIN - deal with more enemies
Sleep - Save - Get off

Or

Log in - try to sleep - deal with enemies
Try to sleep AGAIN -
Save - Finally can play the game

PLEASE Fix this! Turn down how often enemies can attack you when sleeping, or make it to where they only do this if you are sleeping in a tent / tarp. It's incredibly frustrating.

I think the best solution for it would be to freeze the enemy wave approaching you when you go to sleep in your base. Sleeping in shelters etc. without defense should still have 50% chance of waking up by enemies but in base mechanics should look like this:

If you want to go sleep in base at night but you were building all day without any major encounters then it's obvious you should have an encounter at night. Instead of interrupting sleep nearby enemies should freeze allowing you to sleep and when you wake up they should attack your base even if it's early morning.

I haven't really gotten into building a base yet. What about sleeping in bunkers? Do you get good sleep in those? I'm thinking about building a base around one of the bunkers since there is already a bed in them.

I have a base in a very active area on the NW side where the lake/pond never freezes. I have completely eliminated being woken up by placing and electric fence around my base, mind you I only have a log fence with half log upright and a full log spanning the uprights, from there I built an electric fence right against the logs with a total of 12 solar panel with batteries. I wake to find dead cannibals on the fence either electrocuted or shot by Virginia.
Might give it a go and see if it helps!!!!

Kill them all. Sleep. :pillow:

Also don't make your home in a high pop area.

I didn't know you could make electric fences now. Could you tell me how you build them? Also how many batteries do you need for it to run all night?

Electric fences pale in comparison to a proper wall made from a ton of pointy sticks and molotov traps

I have a wooden wall with spiked tips around the base. They are still interrupting sleep. The enemy can't even get into the base, which is why I said I have to walk the perimeter and kill them before I am allowed to sleep.

They have no way of getting into my base but I am not allowed to sleep. It's very frustrating.

Guys please don't try to figure out way around the problem. The problem persists, it's annoying and it needs to be fixed. I suggest no interruption during sleep if you are sleeping in your walled base but enemies should stay there waiting for you being hostile straight away when you wake up.

I had the same thing were i walled off my base but left a gap at the ramp that only had a normal door at the top of it. I locked it at night and locked my front door but they still spawned inside my base but when i walled the gap at the bottom of the ramp i have not been woken once.
Not sure why maybe just got lucky or if its because the mutants are showing up more above ground.

Attacked all the time even though the door was locked

No attacks so far about 10 or more sleeps after bringing the wall down pasted the ramp.

Where are you building and what do your walls look like that this happens? Do you have a lot of yard space within the walls that counts as "empty" ground?

Nothing of the sort has happened to me, even at the fort I built only a short distance from a village. If they aren't already right up at the walls, they don't disrupt sleep and don't spawn within the walls. But my designs are fairly tight and compact so there isn't a lot of space where I haven't already placed something.

I dont understand what people are doing for cannibals to be raiding them so often. I'm about 25 days in and have only been raided while I was sleeping a single time, which was the one time I forgot to close the gate on my defensive wall. Other than that, they'll sometimes try to attack during the day and then kill themselves on my spike traps.

Probably has a lot to do with your location. I built on a small cliffside next to a pond that only has a couple paths leading up to it so its pretty easy to defend, also not close to any villages so few patrols.

I always build on the one lake I found that doesn't freeze over (it has a big rock a little close to shore and is up the river from one of the maintenance bunkers) so I don't get much in the way of cannibal attacks on Normal. I also setup a bunch of different traps where I do see them path towards my general area they tend to clean them up without much fuss.
Ataxio Mar 1, 2024 @ 4:15pm
Literally just kill them. I put the fear of God into them when they pull crap like that.

Try my method.

Stun gun one, while it's convulsing on the ground, set it on fire with the torch. Now proceed to dismember it limb by limb with the chainsaw.

If that diddnt suppress the raids. Welp, that just means you got more of God's work to do.

You can yes, but this is something I think should be addressed by the dev team. Sleeping in caves or bunkers should never be better then sleeping in player built bases due to the time investment.
