Gliders was fun and useful now nerfed and useless?

My glider simply falls after a short very short time in flight. Used to be amazing but not anymore. Shame really.

The gliders weren't nerfed, they were buffed. They go in your inventury and they made it easier to get higher. You might just be having a bug, or you're bad at gliding. This has never happened to me, I'm able to stay in the air for as long as I want.

they are broken imo. if you go down sharply then come up as fast as you can you actually gain enough speed to climb higher. you can jump off a cliff and end up being higher than it. you can litteraly go anywhere on the map in one glider trip with how glitched they are

I haven't used the glider in the game yet but why couldn't a glider end up higher than where you jumped from? There's this thing called wind..

When I attempt to travel with the glider from the beach up the river I can’t get enough altitude to make it upstream to the waterfall, something I could do before ver. 1.0. Dipping down then pulling up isn’t working for me.

Uhhh, please tell me this is a joke. The only way you're gaining height is with an updraft, and even that would only keep you level most of the time unless you get lucky and can manage to also stay in it. The issue is that there's no updraft system for the weather, and you can just dive and then climb to much higher heights infinitely. Not exactly something you could rely on to keep yourself suspended permanently, but hey, this is a universe where magic gold exists that can control lightning. The bottom line is that without adding energy, you can't get more out of the system than you put in and no system adds more energy to it other than diving giving more than it should. Kind of basic physics, unless you also believe in perpetual motion machines.

It's a game, not a physics simulator for an aerospace manufacturer.
The glider buff is one of the best things the devs did to make this game fun and also it's some kind of safe zone.

Not exactly true. Up drafts are what gliders use, big white things with no engines, look them up. They catch hot air rising from the ground and it carries them upwards, you can usually find a bunch of them all circling around in 1 hot air up draft during competition.

I'm well aware of what an updraft is. Thanks for trying to be condescending and completely wrong at the same time, yes they use them but they are not something you can rely on to keep yourself up permanently while also moving across the entire world as stated already. If you really wanted to interject then at least put something of worth instead of trying to act like a child who just googled "updraft" and watched two tiktok videos about gliders. Can they keep you in the air for a while? Yes, can they keep you in the air permanently while moving great distances? No, they tend to be localized and hard to use for any real travel.
