Drying racks are useless now
Meat and fish doesn't stay on my drying racks long enough to even dry anymore. I'm guessing it is either being stolen by raccoons or eagles. Anyone else having issues?

I tried building a rack up in a treehouse. Nope, food disappears. Tried building a platform in the water when lake was frozen. Put a couple of racks out there in the spring and nope, food stolen. Put racks in a stone building with a locked door. Nope, food stolen.

Anyone having any luck with drying racks? What am I missing?

I have the same issue but the meat always stays, the fish will vanish while i watch. Apparently it could be the raccoons that have a long range, like kelvin i guess. You could try killing all the raccoons around your base, good source of meat and to see if it stops.

edit: the racks are fine, it's the raccoons. lake base, lots of raccoons, cannot keep fish(meat is left alone) on the rack. base on the beach, no raccoons, fish stay and actually dry on the rack

I regularly see eagles flying through the walls of my cabin and landing on my drying racks. Sometimes I notice food missing and other times I don't but it is incredibly annoying. All the animals have broken collision with player built structures, I also see deer running through my defensive walls sometimes.

Yeah - any chance this is on their radar to fix?

Game is a mess. Wasn't ready to be called a 1.0 release. Early Access outside Early Access.

There are still bugs and glitches in the game that have been around since the game dropped into Early Access. People have reported them many, many times. Hard to say if there is a fix on the radar with all the issues they ignored through out Early Access to present day. May never get fixed like many things in The Forest that never got fixed because they were too lazy and loaded with cash to care. Don't expect fixes anytime soon. They didn't care a year ago and they certainly don't care now or they wouldn't have left this gone unfixed for so long. Maybe one day they'll get to it when they feel like it.

I never have a problem with drying racks. I must have gotten the deluxe version of the game.

drying racks are extremely slow and take multiple days in game i think its like 5 or 4 or something. makes them really not worth it

I'm still having meat and fish dry in racks
I'm enjoying slaughtering the thieving raccoons. fck those guys and their shifty little faces

Agree. They're a huge waste of time. It's quicker to cook food on the fly in the pot. You also get buffs by doing so. All the cooking recipes basically made drying racks worthless. XD

Use them indoors

As bird feeders? I've literally watched birds fly through sealed structures and steel food...

8 sticks to make a rack that can store 6 pieces of food. for me it's about storage and making the food last longer. I don't think dry meat ever goes bad

Kelvin and Virginia both eat off the racks as well, continuously I might add. Whenever me and my partner play, we are seeing them go to the racks every maybe 10-15 minutes and eating whatever is there.
The scarecrows help a little bit with the birds.

They don't eat fish or meat, I wish they would. They eat arms and legs from the cannibals if you hang them on there.

Well, maybe it's all working as intended. But no matter how I try to protect them, the food doesn't last long enough to even dry. I'll just keep cooking my food :)

You can put your drying racks inside bunkers or inside cave entrances. Not optimal I know but until they balance this out which I strongly think they should, it's a short term solution.
