Who really is the main character?

We get a little bit of hints here and there about the main character but there isn't really a deep profile of who we play and just why were at at the Forest/SOTF but never who we play.

Has anyone got resources as to who we really are in the game?

In combination with the intro sequence (helicopter crash) it's revealed who we play and why in SoTF at a certain point in bunker residential and at latest in the ending credits.

But I feel the connection is lost between the main character from The Forest to SOTF.

That's probably because we are playing a character that has pretty much no connection to what has been going on before he crashes with the copter. And even after that he is literally being thrown into something he never asked for. But yes, I agree, even during playing the game the connection towards the main char isn't building, at least not as much as TF let us dive into that.

We're still playing Eric and Timmy Leblancs story, but from a different perspective.

So we're basically a nobody, just a member of the rescue team, trying to figure out what happened.
Maybe 'our' story is going to get revealed in "The forest 3"

Meh, I am left with so many questions about the main antagonist.

I tried to watch a youtube video about the story, which didnt really explain anything I didnt already know. But I do believe it was supposed to be the girl megan from the first one.

Why?

Because I thought it was strange as hell that the final boss has a money maker, spitting out babies and cannibals. They were originally female.

Im sure this is just the team trying to fill in plot holes, but its certainly a wtf moment.

This is what I found out after reading a few story pickups, haven't beat the game in 1.0 yet: The main character is a journalist named Jack Holt. Apparently Ed Puffton personally knew him because Jack wrote a book about him. Because of this he personally requests that someone alerts Jack to investigate the island if he ever went missing. Beyond that I'm not sure about anything else about Jack Holt aside from him being capable with survival skills since we play as him.
