No cheats work
So I enabled cheats in my save and absolutely none of the cheats work. What is the point of them?

Depending on what you are trying to use, a lot of them require something additional, like "Loghack" doesn't work as just loghack, it has to be "Loghack on" (or off if disabling it). For commands like "Killradius" you have to specify an actual radius, so like "Killradius 10" for example. The cheats listed are usually the command itself, you still have to supply any variables.

Interesting, why don't they actually specify you need to add more to the command to actually work. How would anyone know we have to add "on, off" etc?
Also I find it dumb that the game actually says it's running the command even if I don't type it fully

Needing command variables is pretty standard for command console use across games, though the actual commands can vary greatly. Take Skyrim for example since I recently needed to troubleshoot that, so say I have the same issue i did where the raven rock bedlam jobs are known to be bugged and i use the "setstage" command to fix/progress. It isn't just "setstage", the full command is "setstage <questID> <stage value>" so I need to specify "setstage TGRNT 50" to make it actually work. Or hop to another game entirely, minecraft. Some in-game commands, especially on servers, can be as simple as "/fly" but if using the base game commands like "gamemode" then you still require variables like specifying "gamemode 1" for creative mode so you can fly instead.

I have not tested all of these and ive already noticed there's a few lists that aren't entirely accurate so always take it with a grain of salt, always hard save before tinkering with console, and/or accept you may cause unintended bugs via command use that could potentially ruin the overall save. That said, this list should help a bit with the variables required, what those variables actually are, and when to use them:

otherwise, yeah, you might just want to go with mods. Install can be difficult for some if unfamiliar with modding but at least once it is working you can do most things with a simple click of a button instead (be aware that its well known in modding communities that updates sometimes break mods, though it is usually less of a concern for mods that are basically repackaged console commands).

.
Minecraft actually tells you the command you want to type, you don't have to guess the entirety of it, unlike in this game where you have to guess what you need to add to the command

That depends entirely on how complex you get with the commands in minecraft. Though minecraft itself is pretty simple and tries to keep it pretty binary ("true/false", "0/1", "on/off" types of commands) until you get into things like item/entity IDs. Most the common commands are self-filling, but even minecraft uses the same concepts just simplified for accessibility to its generally younger audience. Console commands are usually intended for developer debugging or specific testing rather than normal gameplay so most games dont bother to simplify them quite as much.

type cheatstick in game and press F1

However...question...is turning cheats on in the settings the same as typing in cheatstick then using F1 codes?

I tentatively assumed that the cheats in the settings was for a host in a MP server deciding if other players could use cheatstick versus the host.

Thank you captain obvious, I was doing that and i had the entire cheat sheet on the screen, just typing the command didn't work, I had to magically figure out thanks to another comment above that I have to add stuff to the commads to actually work, and I had to magically figure out what the hell I am supposed to add to each cheat to work
