Fix the combat!
This game is disappointing the way it is right now. I love some aspects, exploring, graphics are beautiful.

BUT, the combat in this game is just plain AWFUL! It's very amateurish and also highly frustrating. What is the point of having a gun if it can't kill anything? When fighting cannibals or whatever those zombie like things are, there is almost no skill, but mostly luck on if you actually kill it or not. Once again, the hatchet, ax are worthless. Combat becomes this VERY frustrating aspect of the game, as you often die over, and over, and over again if attempting to fight any groups, monsters, etc... look it, I get it... this is a survival game, but the combat ruins everything because you have almost no fighting chance most of the time. Then you try to use flaming cocktails , and they just live even being hit with multiple shots. I could go on and on with the lameness. Please fix the combat to turn a good game into a great game. I would almost rate this game is poor if it were not for so many other great things about the game.

Sounds like you need some tips. Here's a video that might help you out, it's a bit older but this video covers the basics.

Not sure I agree with OP. If you aim for the head, the majority of cannibles and puffys will go down in one hit. 2 hits for the big guys.
I hate to say it, but I think the problem might be with your skills, and not the game.

You need to kite around some enemies and go in and out with the attacks, whilst blocking.

There are three ways to excel in combat for this game: practice, practice, and practice. Let those low-life, scum-sucking cannibals jump at you, step aside, turn, and proceed to demonstrate the cutting effect of the sharp edge of the weapon you wield. A bow is also a great weapon when you get a headshot on cannibals. Teach those cannibals that coming at you, bro, is going to be a painful lesson for them!

I hate being that guy as well, but I think Kharn is accurate. I don't have these issues at all.

Headshots work, there is a lot of attack options. I had one of the biggest attacks I have had in awhile last night actually, one of everything mutant, and then some. I got beat up a little bit, but didn't even lose half my armour set.

Blocking (assuming you are using a melee weapon) is your friend as well

I use a lot of spinner traps. I let 'em come at me and then hit the "frappe" button.

Headshots are really the way to go. Most minor cannibals will die from a single headshot. Big guys will take a couple. When you get the shotgun it wont matter, it'll shred enemies.

Combat don't need to be fixed. Combat skill does.

This is a game. With challenges. That's part of the point of it. Step up to the challenges. Or don't play.

If what you're looking for in a game is for it to intentionally be easy and you do well with no effort on your part, you need to look for another game.
