Tech armor seems pointless
I made it to the 3D printer bunker and made a few pieces of tech armor. A short while later I had to fight a swarm of baddies and it broke every piece of armor including the tech armor. Considering the high cost of tech armor and the fact I have to go to the bunker to make it, it seems a lot easier to just use bone armor. Right now it is winter and I am playing on custom setting with long days and seasons. I think I am going to go deer hunting and make some hide armor since I haven't found the winter jacket yet.

Don't let that experience fool you. There is a drastic difference between how much damage tech armor absorbs then bone armor. I usually make tech armor when I am close to hitting the battery cap. So as not to waste batteries. On the surface, tech armor is better made when you are maxed out on batteries. However it is better used for cave expeditions. A full set of tech armor can tank some very heavy hits from the final boss.

Using armor, or the armor dummy stand..... is rather pointless. Once rope runs out, and you can't make it, but the cannibals apparently can, you'll find it's rather pointless. If you put the armor on... you can't take it off. You can store it much easier in your inventory. Plus it seems to have issues in trying to wear it.

You can remove all equipped armor by equipping the golden armor. That strips it all off and returns it to your inventory.

I don't think it will return partially damaged armor tho. And there is no indicator of that.

Depending on how you're doing with rope and duct tape, even bone armor can be hard to maintain and it's even easier to lose. I feel armor in general has this problem. Bone and tech are too expensive (unless you save scum), deer are a pain to hunt to make hide worthwhile and it's even weaker and leaf armor is weaker still.

Ironically, I think creepy armor is technically the easiest type if your base defenses are adequate to kill mutants without you having to get in there yourself much. Would be a very long time to wait around and farm though.

I can kinda get not wanting us to have armor in such abundant supply that we're effectively invincible, but if armor's too much of a pain to get, we got the opposite extreme or armor being effectively useless, which is no less a problem.

In general, armor in this game isn't that good. It does negate all damage but as people have noticed, it doesn't last long and it's even worse when some of the enemies have a fast rate of attack that just shreds armor. Sure, it's better than nothing but I find it too time consuming to craft some types of armor, too expensive, or too rare. I also tend to use bones and creepy armor for building things.

I hope the developers balance it out more when the game fully releases to be more like the first game.
