No point in adding boats unless they add more islands.. So if they add "boats" it had better be a fully operational (and armed) nuclear submarine.
It'd make more sense than "boats" from "The Forest".
SOTFs islands shape was already determined in The Forest 1, and according to that it's the only island.
Also not everything in this game needs a point.
The purpose of most stuff in SOTF is just having it for fun and leisure. So are boats or rafts.
The first forest didn't have several islands either but still boats.
No, you don't need to build anything in sotf, and I do wish there was a reason to. But the frequently sub 75 iq argument that "all things must have a relevant use or it's pointless" can see its way back to its containment zone (reddit) along with the users that utilize that talking point as if it's some sort of holy grail.
A boat without islands would still be useful as a means of travel, especially if it's safer and maybe faster than going on foot to the opposite side of the island. So either way, having a boat without islands would have a purpose.
