The Forest is way better than Sons
The different cannibal villages will watch you from afar before making their move. You can even make peace with the cannibals where they won’t attack you in the forest. In sons i was testing things out building a base and all the enemies did was just attack the entire time it just gets so repetitive in Sons and building is so slow. I would much rather have blueprints for structures. and the forest even allows you to build whatever you want without blueprints and it was a lot smoother just all around the forest is just a way better game. sons has better graphics making things a little more realistic, but sometimes in games going to realistic can stifle gameplay. also having an AI follow you around the whole time is somewhat annoying especially when you give them a task and they don’t do things properly. You tell Kalvin to go get you logs or stone or just to finish a structure and we will go the longest route. I timed him it took him 10min to bring 4 longs. He doesn’t use weapons doesn’t really do anything good he’s a waste of space and resources. He should just be a survivor with his own camp that we run into while playing the game. having him in the game really takes away a lot of the horror aspects. I’m starting to think he is a walking GPS tracker for the cannibals to find and attack the player because every time he comes around the attacking starts and it really doesn’t stop and I haven’t been hostile towards none of the enemies. The first game you could go undetected by enemies but not in this game it really does feel like enemies have a GPS on the player in Sons. just observing cannibals in the first game wouldn’t get you detected. In sons if you a football field away they will know

10min to bring 4 logs? he just brought me so many in 5 min i couldnt move, the engine of this game is amazing alone

The one Thing that they actually could have Copy Paste, where the enemy behaviour and spawning. Enemy a.i in sotf is so Bad and boring. And the Butt spawning is Just annoying.

Totally agree. It’s Not only that but the forest has a sneaking mechanic and it shows how visible you are when crouched so using camouflage actually works. I’m playing the forest right now as we speak I’m in a village and enemies all around and haven’t spotted me yet and I am in one of there huts. It’s just all around better game

Why can’t we make blow guns and craft poison darts and sleep darts and knock out enemies and bring them to base and lock them inside a cage to stop enemies from spawning and negotiate with him. Hell even make them friendly. I don’t understand why they would respond anyway why not have a certain amount of enemies on the entire island I think that would make the game flow better

By all your posts I really dont think this game is for you, you seem to be having weird things no-one else does (Kelvin taking that long to get logs), and wanting to change huge parts of the game.

The enemy AI in Sons is way more advanced than the forest, they accually life or do things in there camps, in the forest there just passing through, when you fight cannibals in Sons they have different skills, moves, combos,... in the forest every cannibal has the same moves, when a cannibal is on fire in Sons he will sometimes roll on the ground or even jump in the water.. in de forest they just waving there arms, that's just a few examples.
Is the AI perfect in Sons no, to me the enemy are abit to hesitant in attacking and pathfinding needs improving to, but again the pathfinding in the forest was atleast just as bad like cannibals and mutants running into walls in the caves or in circles on the surface,...

it's sad the ai regressed so much since the original game. remember how in the original you could play peacefully, to the point where tribes wouldn't even fight you?

in sons, they just spawn in random locations and start attacking the closest thing in site. if the devs didn't lie about their "advanced AI" months in advance, I'd be more willing to give them a pass, but now the AI is just a complete joke.

Look through all the patch notes concerning NPC AI updates, it's clear they are struggling and this is the best we're gonna get.

LOL no. I tried going back and playing The Forest recently and it was an awful experience. The game looks terrible; the lighting is all messed up.

The build system is a huge pain; it takes forever and you can't undo or change anything you've built. And nothing connects to anything, so your stairs probably won't even let you enter your building.

Chopping down trees is annoying because you have to keep mashing the mouse button. Even opening the crates is a pain, because you have to hit them in just the right spot.

I got stuck in the map twice, in less than an hour. The map is tiny and mostly empty.

The Forest used to be one of my favorite games, but I'll stick with the sequel.

This whole The Forest cannibals not attacking you is a load of BS, the only difference between games is the lack of red paint in the sequel.

What difference does it make that they have different moves to attack the player if all they do is spawn constantly to the point it’s unrealistic and the AI isn’t as good because they do nothing but attack. If you’re going to give enemies unique moves then the AI needs to be better than spawning 20 feet from your Basecamp just to attack. that’s all they do nothing else the original forest, the regular cannibals walked routes to protect their village from the monsters in the caves, and you would also see them fight them off
And being attacked by not being hostile towards the enemies in sons tells me it’s not better than the forest. And the only time in the forest that enemies get out of control is if you start killing them and making warning signs with their body parts

How much do you wanna bet that you can make cannibals friendly towards the player in the forest there’s actually YouTube videos on it & I am doing it right now the only enemies being aggressive towards me now are the ones in the caves

The build system is a pain in the forest LMFAO I think you missed putting Sons in front of the forest before saying building is a pain… in the forest I can peacefully build a base without being attacked every 2min by 10 enemies. I killed so many in sons I said to myself that has to be at least 3 villages of enemies laying on the ground let me go check out the village to see if it’s empty but no I made it 50 feet from my base and seen them popping into existence I guess are using the wormhole to come out of nowhere

You act like all you do is build in the game and do nothing else. don’t worry someone has to make this game better and give feedback so I guess it will be me and others trying to get this game where it needs to be. right now all there is to do is build & nothing else is interesting in Sons and that’s my point you have a survival horror game and the only thing to do is build and that might be fine for you so I’ll just stand over here and wait for the actual survival part of the game to arrive

well this isn't a survival horror game. it's not about surviving (you are literally special ops rescuing others) and it certainly isn't horror compared to what we've seen from these devs in the past. It's barely even a game. I think it would make a lot more sense to classify this as a "horror sandbox" or "scary minecraft".

they should have also just given this game a different title instead of making it a direct sequel
