Reshade crashing game?

I played at launch with reshade and had zero issues, I dropped it months back and tried it again, but now reshade crashes the game? WTH happened?

Almost a month later and this is still a problem. I have tried every version all the way back to 4.7.0 and as soon as you try to load the .ini file it crashes. I guess I won't be playing SoTF until this is figured out cause the game looks like ass without a ReShade :(

Not sure what your specific trouble is but but this doesn't happen when I load the game.

Assuming no hardware failure, you can verify game files in steam , the internet will tell you how. You can run sfc/scannow in command prompt if on windows. (I forget the linux equivalent apt-get (whatever)).

You should monitor system temps, maybe blow everything out. 80-90c + is typically a danger zone.

Then you need to do stuff like check hardware failure. Re-seat memory stick(s) , I didn't look up your PC but even if its a laptop it might be possible.

You can run memory diagnostics on ram , and you can run diagnostics on hard drive. (again intenet will tell you how)

If you are running an incorrect XMP profile that could also cause problems(BIOS). Post factory OC can also cause problems. Remove any OC to test.

Also if you are running any third party software or mods you may want try without, simply disabling mods may not be enough sometimes.

What did you choose for your API? I know reshade updated recently and added new stuff.

It's not my PC. Everything else runs fine. I'm running a ReShade on Cyberpunk 2077 with everything set to Ultra and Psycho RT and I get 0 problems. No heating issues or anything. Same goes for Alan Wake 2. If those games are not taxing my system SoTF should not either. I started with a fresh install and after this problem persisted I did another uninstall/reinstall and went through all of the Reshade versions all the way back to 4.7.0. ReShade will install fine and run but, as soon as I go to select the Preset.ini it will throw up what looks like the games .exe trying to run again and CTD. I have never seen this type of error for any other game and then I saw in the games settings you can now change your "Style" which looks like it tries to do something similar to what Reshade does hence I though maybe by them adding this the ReShades will no longer work. From what I can find online there do not seem to be many people having this problem.
Edit: Just tried ReShade 6.01 released today. It is still CTD when the preset.ini file loads.

In the hopes of maybe getting an idea of what could be causing this I will post my specs and see if anything matches anyone else having this problem :)

CPU - i7 11th Gen
GPU - MSI 4070 ti GamingX Trio OC Edition - Driver / 551.23
Ram - G.Skill TridentZ Royal 32GB DDR4 3600
Game is installed on a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVME

So sadly you still cannot use reshade after the 1.0 update. I guess I still will not be playing SoTF anytime soon...

Try to add a few effects at a time. So far SweetFX is running fine.

Tried everything at this point, even tried loading a blank ini to see what it would do and it still crashes. It has something to do with right when the ini goes to load is when the crash happens, it don't seem to matter what effects are running. At least on my end.

Sorry to hear that Darrow. I'm not sure which effects you are using or looking for but maybe try using Shader Glass for the time being.

Okay Gents & Dames, I was able to get all the ReShades I want working by using the "Addon" version of ReShade. You can download this right underneath the normal version on their page. I tried about 10 different ReShades using the Addon version and none of them caused any crashing. Hope this works for anyone else having the crashing issues.
