Hang Glider issues

Not sure if it's just a bug or not or just an issue on either my end or both our ends, my bf and I; but we're trying to get the hang glider to work and every time we go to jump and start gliding, the glider just falls out of our hands and leaves us falling. This is very frustrating and we attempted a fix that another user on the Steam forums suggested but this also doesn't show up for either of us. If anyone has also run into this bug and has fixed it, if you're able to help that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

The only time I've had it not work is when there is terrain to close below. You either need a little more height before you jump, or it's a bug. If trying to take off from a slope instead of a cliff, use a large boulder to get extra height as you run before you jump.

I jumped directly off the cliff with it and had it fall out of my hands despite that being a suitable height for it, I assume...
