How to take wood from firewood piles.
Anyone know how to remove firewood from piles you place down? Maybe it's just a bug, but I've re-loaded my game three times and I'm not getting a prompt to pick any of it up, so I'm at a loss.

It's the dismantle key. Same way you pick up and take apart structures and structural elements.

How do you stack firewood so that it doesn't despawn? Besides building a fire and putting firewood into the fire, I've never figured that out.

while holding the firewood look down at the ground, you should see a small square outline to place it down. Once one piece of firewood is placed, you will get a prompt to add more. You can keep adding more until it is built up into a pile. While stacked they will not despawn and you simply use the deconstruct/ remove key or button to grab a piece and can then replenish your campfires.

I tried that while holding four chunks of quarter-logs that had been split lengthwise. A small square outline never shows up in my structure, no matter where I try.

Except outside my structure. I can stack firewood on the ground, but not inside. That's sad.

You can't Stack firewood inside, for whatever reason.

You can only make a workaround. Took Out the Floor, place the firewood high and place in the Floor again.

Yeah, the only way to place a firewood stack indoors is if the floor is just above the ground, I remove the floor planks and make the pile, then replace the floor. It looks great and is the only way to have firewood inside.

Here is how it looks, I put it by my stairs
