Demon boss fight not fun
I have replayed sons of the forest 3 times after my first play-through but what I find to be the worst part of my play-through each time is the final fight theirs nothing fun about it just shotgun and run away to heal that's it the boss does half your health every-time it jumps on top of you so you just have to deal as much damage as you can and then hide its not fun in my opinion it wouldn't even be a challenge without its jump but its jump seems way to op and makes it so that all strategy is null and you should just shoot it in its face they should have just made the silver jacket person the final fight this just seems like a big demon that they gave a dumb move so that it seems like a boss what are your thoughts?

Pretty much. Getting the gold armour and the final demon cave are the least interesting things about the game.

You could do like I did and just run past the thing lmao.

I tried to do it legit multiple times but ultimately I decided it wasn't worth my resources or sanity for that matter. Until they lock the ending of the game behind the boss, it's entirely optional. (playing on Hard)

Edit: Yeah it's the moveset that's very frustrating. The long range jump you can dodge by running underneath it, and I heard that it is possible to parry, but there's no way I'm trying melee versus it. It's the short range jump that's really the bs move in it's kit. I have not been able to successfully avoid it once, I'm not sure it's possible. It's too fast, it knocks you down then 3 hit's you before you stand up. It's just not well designed or fun to fight imo. Unless there is something I'm missing, which is also possible.

Can you run past it? I've tried that and the prompt doesn't show for me until it's dead but maybe you need to wait for Timmy to go through first.
I've actually found that if the Demon Boss hits you at that bit, it can knock you into the wall where you can safely shoot it. You have to be careful though because if you move back too much you fall out of the world.

You can't run past it any more. I think that was as of the previous patch? Or perhaps this last one?

In any case, now Timmy will be standing in the way of you getting into the tunnel to the gold cube. He'll stay there shooting his gun (with no effect on the boss) blocking your path out until you kill the boss. Only then will you be able to get through.

I did it during patch 05 and haven't been there since, I don't remember reading a fix in the patch notes so I'm not sure if it still works or not.

Ahh interesting, guess I'll have to figure this fight out after all.

I haven't either. I saw a video about this new change by some YouTuber. That's why I couldn't remember which patch this change was introduced in. LIkely it's new as of this update. I've finished the game and stayed on the island, so there's no point in me going back into that cave now until I decide to start a new game again. And I won't be doing that until the full, complete story is out in its final form. Until this, SOTF is just a fun building / survival (I use that term loosely) game.

Patch notes 05:
Timmy will now block the exit to hell cave until after you have defeated the boss demon

So what is the consensus on the best strategy for the final boss?
This is the last thing I have to do in the game before I sit back and build large bases etc.
Grenades, bombs (& ingredients to make more) plus Molotovs to start?
I've horded quite a few buckshot/slug shells in prep

It really doesn't like buckshot, still took 2 tubes to kill it. You also need to kill the demons in the cave as you are advancing or they all come galloping up to your fight with the big demon.

The main thing I'd say is to either be far enough away that it triggers the big jump, which you can run underneath, or close enough to bait out it's melee attacks. If you are in that mid range where it does the quick leap pretty much kiss your health bar goodbye. Grenades stun it for a good amount of time if you can land them, otherwise just keep putting buckshot in it's face.

kill off the "little" demons first, then go ham with projectiles. save your explosives (particularly sticky bombs) for a relatively slow moving thing you'll have to face later. Armor up, hotkey your shotgun and rifle. Use your shotgun with buckshot if you have it when it's on the ground, and hotkey to the rifle when it's on the ceiling. If you want to be stylish, you could use either the bow or crossbow against it as well. as stated previously, melee attacks are all but pointless.

I used creepy armor instead of golden armor for this fight. And it was pretty easy.
But the fight with Jianyu Zhang is a little insane given his speed.

Agreed. It's boring and lazily thought out. Run, gun heal and done. Lazy execution seems to be a very dominant theme in this game.
