How to build down a slope?
I have spent a lot of time in this game trying to enjoy the building, Sometimes I do sometime i hate it. I gave up on it for a while. figured I would come back when stone building was added in hopes the building would be less annoying and cumbersome by then.

I keep running into this issue. Say your building a wall. The terrain starts to slope down. I can put down a log/stone at a downward angle to the ground. lift it up so its level and continue building. But I can't build that wall down to the now lower ground level. Now I am stuck with a gap under my wall. I get no snap points on the bottom of the vertical support logs. If your building a stone wall as a foundation into the ground it looks stupid with little rock pillars holding up a large stone wall. Not to mention AI constantly get stuck under/glitch into the floor if they find any tiny little gap.

If I don't lift the downward slopped wall level I cant build off the side touching the ground. or sometimes it lifts it automatically.

If I try to build another downward sloped log and attach the two lower ends touching the ground like a ramp to keep my build on the ground I cant if they are uneven.

I cant just place a new wall under the raised floor due to stupid build restrictions. (build anywhere option would really fix 99% of my building frustrations)

I just want a wall that goes all the way to the ground. What am I missing?

I don't believe that is implemented at this time. Based on what I've seen you can do a log support, and then replace the horizontals with stone (but leaving the log) I don't think they have a fill in so its flush to the ground from floor downward option for logs or stones. I'm betting over time there will be enhancements to both log and stone in the freebuild mode, but it definitely isn't all there yet.

I agree there should be ways to fill the undersides of buildings to give them a more structurally solid visual. It annoys me as well. There may be workarounds to accommodate for this but they are likely far too complicated to be put to any practical use, like many of the glitches and building tricks I've seen so far.

It's a little finicky, but you can build down a slope; and have floors and ramps along each section. I built a type of roof that sloped to the ground (to stop cannibals from attacking the building), which ended up being a good 30 logs in length, and about 4 stories high at its peak - shaped according to the terrain.

There are some simple rules that can help you manage a 'clean construction':
A floor can only be placed when all four corners are the same level.
A ramp/stairs can only be placed when the two upper and two lower corners are the same level.
A placed vertical log cannot be cut if a floor, ramp, or stairs are directly above it (would cause it to break one of the rules above).
The order of log placement matters. As a general rule, place logs so they anchor from the primary structure; don't look at exterior supports and have logs 'point' towards the primary structure.
When building ramps or extended slopes, attach diagonal logs to the pole that matches your intended height; so when you raise it with another log, it gets cut to that height. Complete this ramp by looking up towards the higher support pole so it angles down to the lower one.
Corner support beams can be half or 3/4 logs and will allow you to remove adjacent interior (or exterior) vertical logs. A type of veranda can be built at each level, increasing the width/length of your building with each level you build up; although this excludes corners. You will need to build the scaffolding to place each horizontal log; allowing you to place the corner support before removing the scaffolding.

Common problems:
Ground level is too low, resulting in a sloped log when you want it to be flat - remove the sloped log(s), cut the lower support poles in half and place a horizontal log between them. You can then replace the original log and raise-cut it to the right height. You may need additional 'scaffolding' to continue building.
Cannot place walls - the system only allows walls where a floor or ramp is possible. This is a construction design flaw rather than a game flaw. When building, make sure all four support pillars are the same height or allow a ramp to be built.
Cannot place a sloped log angled towards a horizontal log - remove the horizontal log, place the upper slopped log, then you can replace the (lower) horizontal log.
Build option displays the 'raise log' option instead of place horizontal/sloped log - place a floor/ramp (cut) log down to invalidate raise log option.
Kelvin gets stuck in scaffolding - build a log rack next to him and ask him to fill it with logs. He'll magic available logs into the rack [this may be patched at some point].
Cannibals keep breaking your stuff - build a spike wall of sharpened sticks (with rock supports). Place one stick down near 'on top of' one of your spikes, anchor off that one so the next stick is placed (literally) on top of the adjacent spike. Repeat for each spike, and when sharpening them, angle them at 45 degrees. Repeat this at the opposite angle; creating a row of forked spikes. Enemies cannot jump over this or get close enough to do much damage to the spikes. (Create bone chairs and chandeliers as a tally of your kill count.)
