The last part of removing item respawn wont work until they include a way to craft or obtain items to survive with though. For instance, you can't craft rope, but you need rope for lots of things. I'm sure there are many other items like rope, maybe ammo or resin to print with.
Not sure if Hard Survival mode is worth playing till they add all the crafting features. I am excited that they are heading in this direction though! Can't wait to play this game again as a survival game and just have fun defending, gathering/resupplying, finding food, and ultimately staying alive.
Nope, crates will no longer have items respawn in them so you better grab everything.
However, from what I can tell, items on the ground should respawn (like rope in cannibal camps that aren't inside a container).
I also don't think hardcore mode is worth it as the game still needs ironing out to make it playable and it was probably added for people who were heavily complaining about the item container respawn and the ones who opposed having it removed since normal difficulty is unchanged.
It is a step in the right direction like you said though so it's likely the developers will keep tweaking it as time goes on. I'm surprised they didn't add a penalty for drinking water straight out of rivers, ponds, and lakes (at least not yet).
There's also the problem in getting fresh water during winter if you aren't close to a stream or a cave with water.
Why shill a sequel with guns then make it neigh impossible to amass ammo for them.
I agree with that as other people including me suggested something like that in the feedback thread.
There should be an option for items to respawn as time goes on and I suggested cannibal camps and caves to have respawning loot (since the cannibals are scavengers and the creepy mutants drag in victims).
I also proposed random loot to wash up on the shore to encourage players to explore the shorelines to get them before the cannibal patrols do.
And finally, I wanted Sahara mercenary groups to visit the island and set up camp. They would have the best loot for you to take. If some people don't want to fight them, it's possible to have the cannibals or creepy mutants already killed them but their loot is still available. I'd argue it's even lore-friendly as Sahara wants to take over the island pretty badly.
I'm sure there will be (more) major content updates in the future but it looks like the updates will roughly take a month before they're available instead of 2 weeks. It's even possible the time required will stretch beyond that.
Air drops would make sense if Sahara mercenaries are around the island, or at least old air drops already on the ground or something like that.
Sure, nothing really exciting or original but it's something.
