Yes, Yes, Early-Access, and you gotta start somewhere... but why start with an animation as weird and akward as possible? It's not a good foundation to build upon.
Also, the cooked fish animation, is the same as the raw fish animation, which sucks.
To each their own though
Bear Grylls showing you how it´s done, pretty much like in the game.
The game is trying to show someone who is literally dying of starvation every time he eats, it doesn´t have different animations for the same action.
Bear Grylls clearly shows that eating a fish raw and whole is no problem as I showed in the video above. And yes, depending on the fish you can also eat a raw fish head :
