No idea then my friend. Could just be a linux issue right enough. Hopefully you get it sorted.
You helped me, because of your comment I tried some other things:
start the game
without keyboard
change the mouse
I did remember that we have non-controller which are recognized as controller.. None of that helped... But I found the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ option where I can actually see all connected controller...
It was my (forgotten) foot switch... somehow it counts as a controller instead of a keyboard?! unplugged it and everything works now.
So if anyone have the same problem: Hunt ALL your hardware down :)

Preferences/Options -> Controller -> General Controller Setting
Nice one! Its normally always something like that when you get those sorts of issues.
Happened to me a while back with another game where the mouse kept moving on its own and i was so confused. Turns out it was my steering wheel and i was accidentally moving it with my leg while playing. :)
