What happened with the shovel cave
Just went there for the first time on day 5 and literally got gangbanged by hordes of mutants and thank ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god for those granade crates laying around + the part where you need to use the rebreather for the second time needs to be nerfed a bit, imagine getting charged by 5 mobs while you can't even open your inventory because apparently you are still in water

Just float there for a while, all the locals will come visit you in the water. It's like a pool party where everyone other than you can't swim so you just kind of awkwardly stare at the ceiling while they thrash about looking like they're having fun. It's really really boring if you do it that way but it works. The only hard part is trying to push the bodies close enough to shore that you can harvest their fleshy armor since your guy doesn't know how to use a diving knife under water, he must have missed that day in mercenary training.

Its been that way from the start you just have to be creative on how you get the AI of the monsters to move around , most pple make them jump in the water when you get to the part of the cave where they are waiting for you so swim around and make them knee jerk into the water , you may lose the chance to farm creepy armor but you dont get hit .

It's not worth that level of stress, that cave takes a really really really long time trying to kite 1 guy at a time, there's about 100 guys in there. If you get to the point where you just can't handle it anymore, put down a save point, save, and then just run to the end, grab the shovel and book it out of there. It's a pretty linear cave and the mutants don't know how to grab you when you run past them yet so they just think about saying hi if you keep moving. But if you try to save after you get the shovel but before you pass the slug and then end up having to reload for any reason, you have to run back to where the shovel was to activate the music and then run back to the slug to get it to burst through the wall, so if you go that route make sure you do it in one shot and save after you have passed the slug.

When I went through i fought my way all the way down, got the shovel, fought all the way back, killed the slug, saved and then on my way out lost all the armor i had collected so i thought, i can finish this cave without loosing all that armor so i reloaded, at the wall where the slug shows up, had the shovel but the wall was closed. So i just sprinted back to the shovel spot and back and poked the slug with a spear for a while till he left and then finished the cave.

I can actually understand not being able to skin under water, some things are far more difficult to do while submerged, at least they take a lot longer.

But not being able to switch from a knife to a gun is silly.
at least you guys didn't have to go and get the golden armor on day 3 with only the small hatchet, spear and few plastic explosives, that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cave took me ages. The old gold armor spawn was so much easier

Yea, ish, pretty sure skinning under water would be more of a visibility issue that an skill issue since you have all the time in the world as long as you have more air canisters, can't see what you're cutting if the water is to clouded with mutant guts though, but you should be able to grab the body by the hand and drag it to shore, your guy with his survival training should at least be able to manage that much instead of nudging ineffectively with your toes. Drag things should be an option, especially since even the little cannibals can drag around whole logs. Might make it easier to get arrows back if you could reposition dead bodies sometimes too. Something about the new update makes it way harder to select the arrows after a fight

This part took me 1 hour in total for sure :D
Many mutants drowned that day.
Baby mutants will not drown there. They will walk on the ground through the water tunnel. They came after me when I ran the cave before the water tunnel.

I made it a point in my second playthrough to grab all the good stuff within the first week, to avoid this problem in the long run. so far so good
