And I would say, by very far. Like Rickle Pick says above, it is very possible to have different endings later...
There are still more lore to come, and, as certainly you have discover it by yourself, many items just do not matter really. Actually, you can skip all books and letters, and finish the game without a second thought.
The puzzle is currently with its frame, and a few bits here and there. By instance there is a document showing the translation of symbols into numbers: I expected toward the end to have to solve something using this code, but no (not yet).
But to be honest, I am not sure if the story really matters in this kind of game, especially if you just choose the (future) survival aspect of the game over the story line. I recall in The Forest having passed the 100 days achievement mark without finding my son, and without much thoughts about the story...
Yah I figured they are going to make more updates to the story. I think I read somewhere that they are doing changes and adding stuff to it but the main reason I asked is I don't wanna play the game and do the story and have things change for the better. being me i probably wont want to do a redo I'm not sure. I love the game though for the amount of time I played. So I'm going to wait for the full release i think so I can enjoy it at its "fullest"
Also new caves are being added (or existing ones filled with explorable stuff) which add more to the lore as well.
