I’m not sure how they work in the game, but if they’re going for realism, then it makes sense. Night vision just amplifies low light , so in caves with little to no light you wouldn’t be able to see much, it doesn’t magically make you be able to see. If outdoors with good loom from the moon, you can see much better.

In caves or low light bunker areas, it actually does not seem to function correctly. Providing no increase in low light vision range and instead actually reduces low light vision range and add a green screen filter effect. In fact if you want to use the NVG in caves or bunkers, you would still need to pull up the flash light to see. But that would be no different from before.
