Devs need to get priorities straight, unicycle is very disappointing

I've enjoyed SOFT but jesus christ the unicycle is disappointing. It's lazy, they heard we wanted a vehicle and instead of taking the time to model a proper vehicle like a dirtbike, or hell even using the golfcart asset, they do a unicycle so they dont have to animate and rig as much. There really isnt an excuse here, endnight made a lazy decision and they need to know this was a bad idea.

Apart from how lazy it feels, It also suck at doing its job, constantly getting stuck, randomly launching you off it without any consistency as to what will make you topple over, and the turning, my god the turning. They didn't tests it, theres no way, its a pain to zip past trees as I often have to stop to ensure I actually turn properly. Devs need to focus on specific aspects of the game with each update.

Eg: Building update, improving building mechanics and adding more structures. Vehicle update, overhaul to travel, new vehicles, and improved performance with said vehicles. Furniture update, adding more decorative and functional blueprints to fill our houses with. Survival update, add on to current mechanic, dirty water, having to wash blood off, more intense effects from weather, nutrient values from different food sources. And lastly, enemy update, add some more enemy types, improve the AI, and overall make combat more fun and immersive.

I've been using the unicycle frequently and I'm inclined to disagree about it sucking. It's fast and portable, can scale up steep inclines at high speeds(though this may be unintended and nerfed soon), and you can get some crazy air and distance from timing jumps right over small bumps or using the springtrap. The trails are basically like roads now for the unicycle but not holding down forward all the time helps with not falling off it when going through the foliage. It was very unexpected as a vehicle but I feel like your complaint of getting caught on rocks and trees would be exacerbated with a larger vehicle like the golf cart, but that shouldn't rule it out from being added in the future.

But I can agree about making updates that focus on certain aspects. They introduced solar panels, cool. But if the whole update was about that and added a bunch of things to test with it instead of only lightbulbs, that would be a nice building focused update. To the rest, all I can say is to have patience, people have been airing lots of grievances recently so maybe the developers will heed this and try out a different approach with what to prioritize.

One other thing to note about the unicycle, it was an already existing asset so they really didn't have to do much work on it, only exacerbating the feeling of laziness. I also feel it doesn't really fit into the game, no lore reason for it either. I wouldn't mind if it was A vehicle option, but it being the only vehicle feels like a slap in the face.

It is fun at times, and I'm not too sad about it as having anything to increase traversal speed is nice, but it really should have been accompanied by a more useful vehicle. I am still optimistic, and hope with the increasing pressure the devs really start working harder.

While I know they exist, a unicycle for forest terrain is pretty silly especially in a survival situation

Like, the forest has always had some silly aspects to it, but this is just too silly for me

Next update we getting a pogo stick that's so good you can jump from one side of the isle over the mountains to the other side. :BL3Thumbsup:

Yeah.... not to mention the developers tendency to remove things from the game like the second shotgun spawn. This game can be beat it 2 days. Its pathetic trash.

Try the unicycle on a beach. Lots of long beach areas around the island. Not a vehicle for use in forest but perhaps on pathways..if it gets some better dynamics and control. To me the unicycle seems to be influenced by speedyrun (in-game mod/cheat.) And what about on frozen lakes? I haven't tested it that much yet...

I have, it is best used in open terrain. But I want to be able to traverse the whole island not just the outskirts or almost exclusively on the defined paths. If they stick with the unicycle I hope they make some big tweaks to make it function better.

An ATV would of been fun. Maybe put the parts in caves or fight the big dude with the outboard motor (but an atv engine) Uses solar or something less dumb than A UNICYCLE

Dudes are unironically riding around on unicycles from point A to point B instead of on a dirt bike or golf cart and lack the self awarness to realize the devs are making fun of them lmao

my unicycle keeps disappearing, if I dismount, do something, go back to where I left it, it's gone, not every time but has happened 3 times now, so I have to either go get it again or reload a saved game.

I do think some priority shifting is needed. I see the need to throw in some sparkle now and then to entertain people, but the building construction system is the worst I have ever experienced. It needs a serious and radical overhaul over what appears to be a great concept.

the building construction is great in concept but the bugs have stopped me from building any further. I've planned multiple 1000+ log structures, only for the structures to become bugged halfway through. I can't tell you how many times this game won't let me place or remove a log from one corner, but it works perfectly in the mirror image corner on the opposite side. It's beyond aggravating, and this build system means you need to demolish quite a lot whenever you encounter such issues.

Indeed, I have experienced this many times too. It's very frustrating at present. Something that I applaud considerably is the graphical realism. It really does feel like being outdoors in the wild. I'm hoping they add more details to the outdoors and incorporate more survival mechanics, like more things to do with tarps, paracord, making hammocks, snares for rabbits, pit traps, bark baskets, fire bows, etc. These elements of a game help drive immersion way more than a unicycle. I would have expected something like a unicycle to appear later in the game, perhaps instead solving travel issues by introducing fast travel as an optional game setting, perhaps marked by building your own fast-travel posts with some food and material costs required to be present in your backpack before you fast travel.

Flashback to when I had to demolish half of my ceiling in order to build a staircase..
