Little or no Enemies late game - Very Lame
Summary: Basically no enemies beside the scheduled 5-10 day cycle raiding party in the late game, leading to little replayability. It's very lame once you achieve the goal of the game just to have basically no benefit from it. Need WAY MORE and consistent enemies.

One thing I have noticed while playing is that once you kill a group of enemies near your base, they don't re-spawn back. I have spent dozens of hours making a fortified base in a "high traffic" area, just to finish it and have nobody attack my base anymore besides the random raiding party every 5-10 in-game days. Not even the creepies go near it.

I have moved multiple times to different areas where there are tons of cannibals in the beginning, but once you kill them and build in an area. They don't come back. I think this contributes majorly to the fact that people find this game boring because there is no action once you finish what you are building. There is no reward for building a strong defence when you can just go kill the enemies and they will never come back. There is no challenge besides the early game.

Also, whats with the cannibal camp enemies not re-spawning? The only enemies you come across in the late game are the wandering tribes + Skinnies/Muddies, the occasional creepies and the raiding parties that are very easy to deal with.

(Opinion Warning) This game needs way more enemies in the late game. Early game is meant to be difficult to make it a challenge to get started. However, once you get all the items, build an epic base.... Nothing, theres no reason to build a base in the first place when nobody attacks it. The number of enemies needs a major overhaul.

What I did was to prove that they respawn back at same location IF one spawn enemies manually trough in-game console/developer menu.

So that means that addcharacter fatmale 30 spawns 30 redskinned brutes that get shotgunned by 3 Virginias also armed with pistols...and after these 30 brutes got downed and I leave the area, they will respawn at the same location after some time. Same for demons addcharacter demon 30 and they will respawn after some time as well. This happens if one spawn the enemies close to a base.

When I save the game with these manual enemy spawns, I'm quite amazed that they are still respawning. This is achieved by using Thunderstore Mod Manager with Sons Of The Forest.

None of that is normal and your findings are tainted. Using any commands like that can behave differently then how entites normally spawn in. You cannot compare a spawn command to entities naturally spawning or however else it's programmed in.

So unless you built the game and have access to information we don't, this is superficial at best.

Base location is extremly important.
High traffic areas have been redefined by patch 3.

Prior to patch 3, the surroundings of my base were almost peaceful.
Now I get attacked by 5-7 blind mutants regulary, whenever no such group is present in the proximity of my base.

They keep roaming the vincinity for several days, until the last one of them has been killed, usually preventing any other attacks on my base.

Afterwards there is a 2 day grace-window for other mutant/cannibal attacks my base.
After these two days of grace, the next group of blind mutants attacks me (they are the worst!).

I've also already seen 6 demons during the "grace"-periods.

In late game you pretty much are guaranteed 1 mutant attack per night, 1 cannibal attack per night and several cannibal attacks during the day. Throw in the occasional Slinky or two per day as well.

Maybe you need to start a new game instead of using and old save file because I'd love a bit of peace and quiet to build and what I'm seeing is the exact opposite of what you are seeing.

This was building on the beach btw, near the raft by the river. In the actual Forest it's much worse.

try console command "setcurrentday 300"

got jumped by 10 cannibals near the end of the day after activating above command


(activate console by typing "cheatsticks" while ingame and then press F1 to open menu)

So console commands are the best solution to spawning more enemies.

Type - cheatsticks
Then hit F1
Type - addcharacter X
X is the specific enemy

Key;
fat - red guys
heavy - Brutes
cannibal - Normal cannibal
fingers
twins
demon
baby
puffy

etc

If you want to spawn more at the same time then add a space then a number after the enemy.

For example;
addcharacter cannibal 10
or
addcharacter fat 5

This would spawn multiple enemies to the single addcharacter line.

I completely agree we need more enemy spawns. Particularly more cannibal spawns near and in villages. I did some testing; building a small base in between the 3 cannibal villages on the beach near the endgame bunker in zone XM. After a few times killing all the cannibals in the village they did not even respawn after more than 100 in game days. Quite pathetic. I expect at the very least villages to spawn one or more cannibals in villages per in game day. Anything less is sad.

I had the same problem. When I did a reset of my gamestatus json (forget the files entire name) file to edit the length of my days, i also edited cannibal aggression levels to high. I get raided quite a bit now and am having fun.

Not very many enemy types when it comes to variety and current enemies aren’t scary or very powerful either.

Wish there was some scaling on numbers of enemies spawning at enemy camps per day.

Since there are female cannibals (those that try to steal your logs) involved, at least they could produce some outcomes (cannibal babies) per 7th - 30th day that grows up to young cannibals or adult cannibals.

Basically.

I have actually only played 2-4 hours in the past 2 weeks, over 100hrs in the first two weeks. Nothing is forcing me to play, I am just listing what I believe would make the game more interesting. Encase you didn't realise, this is a discussion on an early access game. I am not whining over something I don't have, I am merely suggesting something. Considering how multiple other people have the same opinion on the topic I feel your petty and irrelevant comment/opinion really doesn't matter. :steamthumbsup:
