But yes, very difficult to use in forests and it gets lost easily when you stumble upon something and get thrown of. I did get to my destination in the forest far quicker but it wasn´t a very pleasant experience, perhaps it´s not supposed to be.
Just a hint though, you can´t look at your map while driving, you actually have to navigate your surroundings which I did mostly successful. I only looked at the map while standing still to get my bearings, otherwise you really need to focus on trees and obstacles ahead of you, it becomes a mini game in itself.
I also didn't have too many issues with controlling it while driving through the forest.
But maybe it could be slower in general and then when you press Shift (Or whatever your sprint key may be) then it goes full speed.
+1 for 3rd person on the other hand
