Zipline, it's just better. and faster than walking with a sled would be.
Though with all the people complaining about it they are likely going to add it in eventually
I just hope they make big changes to it like maybe a log sled that you can tow with the new "vehicle" which could potentially carry more logs and be the only thing I would consider better than the zipline if it were easier to take logs across significantly longer distances...if the suped up onewheel has that much horsepower lol
Otherwise I stick to my initial statement, the zipline is just better hands down and the log sled as we knew it is obsolete, it serves no significant benefit over the zipline.
The log sled is NOT obsolete. The zip line is a static device, and still requires carrying TWO logs to it at a time. You are not always able to make one everywhere you need to chop trees, and who would want zip lines ALL OVER THE PLACE just for chopping trees??
Log sleds however can easily be moved around to different batches of trees for cutting. That is why almost everyone wants them back. My process would be to setup a central zip line in an area and then use log sleds to get logs to it to speed up logging to the fullest extent, especially over long distances that you would not want to push the log sled. This would be ideal.
So yes, the log sled is still needed.
gonna take more than that to change my mind on the log sled being obsolete.
Zipline is just better unless we got something faster and can carry a bigger load than the original log sled. It would make it viable to gather logs far away from your build location so you don't have to make it look like a barren wasteland
The log sled is something you don't need an item for and could be built right away for early base building stuff, it's not like it doesn't have its use. It could also be used along with a zipline, say sending logs to a specific landing and then be able to haul a pile of logs around with the sled. Could also make the sled usable for rocks and sticks too. It's weird for people to argue against it like it negatively effects the game when more options is better for everyone.
I am all for more options, I'm not against the log sled I just feel if it's a carbon copy from the first game it would be redundant alongside the existing options. Kelvin can gather sticks and rocks and plenty spawn so there isn't really a significant need for a log sled to carry them, I've even built long rock roads and built most of it with rocks found next to where I was building.
Kelvin could also bring logs to a zipline for you and if you wanted to get fancy you can build some holders by the zipline for him
They likely will add a version of a log sled to the game because it is in such high demand I am just hoping they make significant improvements over the old jank design because a carbon copy would serve no significant additional benefit to the existing options. Personally I feel the only way it won't be a redundant addition only to appease demand would be if it made longer range log hauling easier than needing multiple ziplines for long hauls having to stop and go with each line, then we could make logging camps away from our pretty scenic homes more convenient.
Currently with ziplines and Kelvin it fills the same logging distance if not further than what was comfortable in the first game for larger builds
did you know logs can go up ziplines?
