My personal suggestion to developers
Thanks for the developer, I enjoyed playing "The Forest", that's why I bought this. I chose "Normal" difficulty, single player. However, while I was on my 2nd day and was trying to setup my first cabin, I got interrupted by about 10 enemies, including someone with a chainsaw. I got annoyed because I can't even set the smallest cabin up before the night comes because of those monkeys. Kevin didn't help, for sure, since he's not trained yet.

I then changed the difficulty to "Peace", and that MEANS Peace. No enemy at all, not my way to anywhere, not in the cave. For a terror game like this, it doesn't really make sense with nearly NO enemy at all throughout the game. Therefore, I was a bit confused.

Please forgive me that I may not be so easily pleased. But, is it possible to add "Easy" difficulty with fewer enemies than normal that I can at least finish my cabin, but keeps the threat and the feel of terror. Or, maybe we can add an option that simply lower the amount of enemy. I know I can adjust the enemy strength, hit point, that sort of thing. But the thing that really others me is the amount of enemy. They just keep coming and I am all alone to fight them.

Thanks for your attention!

People will say there are settings for low. But these don't work.
I think the setings are a bit buggy at the Moment.

But yeah, there are settings where you can run the amount and all. You can also custumize lenght of day and all.

Frankly I was trying to set my first cabin near the beach. Precisely just south-east of our spawn point. Damn monkeys still came to me without an end.

It's not just the question "I can't finish my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cabin before night". It's also the question "can you stop bothering me when I want to concentrate on something, especially after quite a few kills".

Totally agreed.
I had enemies low in all values and they were harder than on TV.

Yeah, there are Tons of threads like yours. I myself Talked about this and made suggestions in the pinned thread, because it's ridiculous. But the devs don't seem to care.

It's also not important where you Set Camp. They will swarm you everywhere. At least in my games this was the case. From beach to Mountain.

i didn't even check that

lol is there anything left that isn't buggy?

earlier in the morning i logged in to see if my Kevin was unbugged/unstuck yet.. and those pale mutants just jumped over my palisade wall.

i don't remember them doing that, wtf, only the slinky could ignore wall. everything basebuilding is so pointless

Use CUSTOM settings you can change a lot in there .....

Except for the enemy amount. BTW, the first reply of this thread says that the settings don't actually work.

Depending on your play style it's on you to find locations on the map where enemy can't reach your camp/base. These are:

- shoreside, as far out in the water it's possible to build
- certain cliffsides (if you can reach those)
- snow zone - usually in the mountains with no trees around (gotta transport those logs by wire or walk.

Alternatively you can camp in bunkers with their sleep/save if you aren't up for base building.

To stay away from enemy spawn zone, there must be no bridge or access to your base shoreside in waters. Any log that reaches the dry sand will trigger enemy spawning

the settings in custom worked for me. played a game with lowest settings for cannibal hit points, armour and aggression. When i fought the cannibals i mowed through them and once i got the katana it was a bit of a joke so i deleted the game and restarted. I have been playing with max setting for cannibals with no problems. Noticed the difficulty is increased by how long the day setting is. fast days is harder than default and default is harder than long days (never tried realistic) you get attacked more on fast days because the days are shorter, i think the attacks are based on days. Played a game on long days and there were longer periods between attacks, good for building but got a bit boring after base was done, too long between attacks. I always build a defensive temp base first by where i want to build. A 3 by 3 or a 4 by 4 square and line it with spikes and put a 1/4 log on it and line it as well with spikes, it doesn't take too long and is very effective. you should always build a form of defense first even if its a circle of spikes with a small opening you can run into to fight the enemies with the ranged weapons we have. here's a screenshot of a temp base i was building.

Noted with thanks! But... I created a new save with Custom difficulty, and set all the enemy settings to low. Then I went to a small cannibal camp to see how it goes. I saw a cannibal with a hammer, he stared at me and kept a certain distance. I wanted to piss him off to see how what would happen, so I just collected everything from the camp in front of him. He really seemed to be pissed off and walk toward me, and struck me with his hammer. God... 70% of my health points gone away with just ONE hit. Even worse, I was knocked off on the ground, and I couldn't even hit back before I got killed.

Well, it seems that some enemy options might work, e.g. the hostile option, but I'm not quite sure if other options work.

The cannibals that can knock you to the ground i never melee....lol (the big dudes with the club and outboard motor, i think they are called heavy cannibals, mini bosses) because they usually kill me. They are a lot tougher than your normal cannibals. those ones are for ranged attacks only and are easy to kill with a bow. They have killed me more than anything in the game. Chopping tree's and i'm not paying attention and they walked up behind me and stun lock me, i can't even run or fight back...lol. happened 6-8 times. Needed to be more careful. look behind me a lot more when cutting down tree's.
