Defensive wall - Step 5?

Has anyone been able to add the log on step 5? The only thing I can do is make a door. No option to put a reinforcement log in place.

I'm not managing anything and what stuff I find on Youtube is speculation it's not implemented yet

I am more inclined to think that it's just showing how to make the gate itself, considering there is no other part in the book describing how to build a gate.
Yes, I know that the gate was in the first update and as far as I can recall the image where it looks like a log is reinforcing the wall was here from day one, but I've built a line of wall here that I am dead certain is perfectly aligned both horizontally and vertically, and all I'm getting is the diagonal gate attachment, whether the wall has the spiked top or not.

Step 5 is the gate, we have been bamboozled on reinforcing the wall.

1. Put first log where ever you like
2. put second log next to the first
3. the third will snap in a perfect line when you place it right (you will see a white circle with a straight line)
4. continue until you have 5 in a row
5. then place the 6th log against the wall

These can then also be used as door, which can only be opened by players.

Gates use a diagonal split piece of a log. The reinforcement uses a horizontal entire log. There is a difference. The reinforcement should be able to be used the entire length of the wall and is separate from the door/gate.

I've been trying to build a gate and have 5 logs in a row (using the 'snap to' feature), but it still will not give me the prompt at all of putting the split log on to actually build the gate; has this happened to anyone else?

You need seven, despite the gate itself only using 5 of them. Look at the books image, def has seven in a row.

I've tried both 5 and 7, and it still won't give me the white outline prompt of building it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and still the same thing.

Did you make sure that each log snapped in place before you put it down? The logs have to be arranged in a straight line for it to be converted into a gate

I thought so; I didn't place each log until I saw the white circle with the attached line next to each one.
