It is Possible to Build a One and a Half Tall House?
It seems Kel loves to get stuck between the ceiling and any thing you place inside your house, to avoid that would be great to build an one and a half base, basically a full log with a half log on top of it, is this possible?

sort of yes. You'll have to still use all the load bearing logs, but instead of putting the ceiling at the 1 log height, you can just put it at the 1 1/2 log height.

In other words, continue building as if you were adding a 2nd level, but only use 1/2 height logs for all the pillers. then remove the ceiling of the 1st floor.

definitely
Is there a weight limit? Trying to figure out how to expand tree houses right now.

I got it... We need to place some sideways logs to be able to place another half log.

That exactly what I made 8 x 8 x 1 1/2. Still not helping kelvin, he still get stuck all the time, now most likely under the stair because his path finding can't do check over 2M away.

I made a stair with an open at the back so I can place the campfire there, he got stuck there once, I had to close it =(

Just use struts which are in the build book. You can make them 1.5 logs high if you want. Struts let you build large rooms as high as you want with zero posts in the middle of the room.

If you want to build a 4x5 room that is 1.5 high and has just the walls (no posts other than your four walls):

Build 4x5 grid for floor. You don't need to put floor planks down to make this work, so you can just build the grid then fill in the floor planks later. When thinking about this floorplan as though you were above it looking straight down, orient yourself with the 4x walls at the top and bottom and the 5x walls on the sides.

Put posts at each point on all four sides for your walls. Put beams across all the wall posts, so you have a basic 1 high wall framed around your floor.

Put 1/2 posts on top of all the wall posts. You don't have to put beams across the 1/2 posts to continue, but you might as well since you will be up there any way.

Now you have a 4x5 floor with all four 1.5 high walls completely framed in (you can add logs to fill in the walls now or later). Now you have to make 1.5 high wall frames connecting each post in one 5x wall to its counterpart in the other 5x wall. Thinking in the overhead view, you basically have a 5x wall on either side of your floor, with each post on one side connected to the post on the other side with a 4x wall. There are six 4x walls; these will become your struts.

Overhead view:
____
____
____
____
____
____

Now put a 1/2 log angle brace at each end of a 4x wall, where it connects to a 5x wall. This would be a total of 12 angle braces. Once all the angle braces are in the horizontal logs on top of the 4x walls are considered struts by the game and all of the interior posts on beams on these walls can be removed. You can build on top of the struts however you want, whether you put another story on the building, or any kind of roof you want.

Pretty hard to describe in words, so hopefully it makes sense. If not, start a peaceful game, look in the build book for the instructions to make struts, and just play around with them. You can make struts as high as you want, so you could have a 20x high ceiling in a room if you wanted to take the time to build it. They also let you build without having a bunch of posts in the middle of your room.

I never used struts, I notice that, it doesn't matter the flood boards, what matter is the beam across each vertical beam. This is how I made:

I placed a 1/4 on the ground to level the area (and use as floor, I could use the ground as well), then I placed the full log vertically to make a 1 high value, then I placed a full log sideways connecting each vertical log (make the common square, basically), with the sideways log you can place a half log vertically on top of the vertical full log, and then just copy that wherever you want.

At the end, connect the half log with sideways logs and close with planks to make the ceiling. I'm not playing right now, but as soon as I log in I'm going to do it, it's really fast to do a 2x2 just as demonstration.
After many videos (but no one shows methods directly), figured it out for now

Hope it helps you

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
