Bows Are Impossible to Use

I'm not sure if it's user error or just how the game is but i find bows (crafted,compound,and crossbow) are impossible to aim. i cant seem to hit a shot with them from anything other than point blank range. even then it isn't accurate. i feel they should have some sort of reference point for the ads that way i could at least know if im the malfunction or not.

Can confirm, Its just a guessing game and not just with the improvised one even the recurve bow is impossible to aim.

Seems to me that the improvised bow is only good for within 8 meters or so. Slingshot (sights) or judging the pebble trajectory seems pretty.... janky atm.

so far ive tested a few things the ads point is about 2 inches lower than the center of the screen. and the aim point for the crafted bow is somewhere in between the arrow head and the center of the screen. however with the crossbow its right in the middle of the sight rail so if you're looking at the divot in the center of it you will hit low.

with the crafted bow use the arrow head to aim with. Different arrow types have different trajectories, the crafted arrows being the worse trajectory. The 3D printed arrows actually go higher than your aiming point when in close range so something to keep in mind.

I've gotten so used to the primitive bow and stone arrows, I now miss so many times when I got the compound bow with 3D printed arrows.

So basically, they are hard to use and it's even worse if you get better arrows.

Agreed. They are good at point blank range but they are useless at even the slightest distance.

With the regular crafted bow, if you're using the composite arrows or the 3d printed ones there's 3 little bright spots in a triangle up from your hand. If you're shooting level (ie for a headshot on a cannibal), use the highest spot on the triangle for the right vertical position and the arrow head for the horizontal position. If you're aiming downwards, use the lowest one.

The stone arrows are just point and click. Literally put the point on what you're trying to shoot.

That's what works for me anyway.

I feel like there should be a reticule for the bow/slingshot/crossbow since there is a ghost for throwing spears and rocks

IT does take a lot of practice. But I can say that I used to agree with ya but find them useful now.

I know this may sound unintuitive,but i find them super useful for far enemies who are charging at me. with patience, you can get head shots this way for massive damage or instant kill. The key i learned was not to panic so i could learn how to aim for the head without a reticle.

I don't think the bow i have is great for long distance hunting as much as it is these medium-gap scenarios where the enemy is closing in fast. I just used the crafted bow.

Like justin said above me, I thought the bows sucked. But I've gotten used to them now, I don't know how to explain it, but after several hours of shooting with the bow, I rarely miss now and can aim pretty well as long as the enemy is within 20ft. And very easy to at least stop a charge with the crafted bow.

Bruh practice with it trust me its more satisfying when u start landing headshots with it.. no othergame i repeat no othergame till now gives me tgis satisfaction when i use bow and arrow.. my fav arrow is stone arrow in this game

I find it difficult to get used to bows because they are held like left handed

I use primitive bow for close combat and aim for the head, usually its 1-2 shhots to kill. They should be used as long rage weapons but good luck with that. On the other hand, crossbow is very good for killing at distance but u need to find it first.

The game gives you the paper target to practice with.

The sights and aiming on all the weapons is just fine! You develop a skill with practice! I'm glad this isn't one of those point and click to cast an area of effect spell games.
