Wildlife Update - Diversify Animals
Cannibals are great, and make the game what is is, but the wildlife really immerse the experience. It makes the forest truly feel like a "wild" nuance of nature with the abominations of humanity. Here's a list of animals we would like to see added:

(Perhaps the animals can be seen killing/eating other animals- of their respective prey- to further elaborate the "feel" of an active ecosystem. Such as, a bear eating a fish, or a fox killing rabbits. This is understandably a demanding ask, however.)

-Bears (Harmful+Aggressive)
-Crocodiles/Alligators (Harmful)
-Lizards (Passive) [From previous game]
-Boars (Potentially Harmful)
-Raccoons & Possums (Mostly Passive)
-Snakes (Harmful, some Venomous)
-Bucks (Potentially Harmful)
-Wolfs (Harmful+Aggressive) [Mountain, Snow Biome]
-Bobcats (Potentially Harmful)
-Foxes (Passive)
-Vultures (Passive) [Eats dead cannibals]
-Rats (Passive) [Caves; Drop meat chunks]
-Beavers (Passive) [Build dams, destructible for sticks]
-Fish Overhaul [big fish, small fish, colors, breeds, etc]
-Bird Overhaul [regional birds, big birds, small birds, aggressive birds, passive birds, etc]
-Insect Overhaul [Can be purely decoration, or for desperate food sources]

Hopefully we can see a Forest with a diverse ecosystem consisting of animals such as the ones suggested above, however, its still important to keep balancing in mind. Perhaps a way to implement more animals without making food too abundant is to spawn different animals based on the different regions of the map. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐦𝐚𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫!!

Note: Obviously we don't need ALL these animals, this is merely a list of suggestions.

lol what is a mostly passive fox? Foxes are not aggressive at all.

Also no thanks to importing an entire zoo into what is a small island full of existing, believable life already.

More needs to be added for sure because at the moment there's not enough animals at all.

P.S let us cook the big spiders that's a thing in poor countries the kids look for them and cook the tarantulas on sticks.

Idk why people say that.

The last time I played I zipped up to a tree stand and looked around. There were like 4 squrriles running around, birds flying about, deer running around. No matter where i looked there was rampant wildlife.

So if we crowbar in tons more animals, it's basically going to be a literal zoo and cannibals will become an afterthought.

The level of balancing required to implement something like this at the scale people want sounds like a total overhaul or a job for a mod.

While I don't think we need to see 20 entirely new creatures added, I think a few extra to increase diversity would be welcome. I wouldn't mind seeing some raccoons, foxes or bobcats, with maybe 1 or 2 different aggressive animal additions. Also spawn rates are values that can (and should) be tweaked, and finding the correct balance per species would make the environment feel more dynamic and interesting without feeling overpopulated.

If they bring back some reason for these animals to exist I might feel differently.

The lack of skinning animals for something other then the fairly un-used animal skin armor is pretty meh.

Agreed, unique skins with crafting recipes and building/ decoration options associated with them would make hunting for specific wildlife more fun and rewarding.

Aggressive animals that attack both mutants and cannibals alike, like bears. Good fun. Far Cry here we go. Riding bears? Check. Tamable horses? You bet.

Calling it a "small" island is just absurd. It would not clutter the map to add different animals in respective regions of the map. Also, foxes meant to be "Passive" that was simply a mistake.

We're not going to get this. What we see now was their interpretation of a complete game before they dumped it into Early Access. They've also said they're not adding bears or wolves. Don't expect much in the realm of change with regards to wildlife. They also said 6-8 months in Early Access so we might as well all forget about any hope of there being more and or better animal behaviours. WYSIWYG.

That would be so cool; Seeing a cannibal being absolutely RAVAGED by a bear in the distance

Pretty sure they've already come out and addressed that hostile wildlife won't be a focused feature let alone added at all. Best you can probably hope for is more decorative wildlife like the frogs and possibly more passive creatures, temper those expectations.

Even if they only add 1 extra animal a bear would suit the world. Sitting in your wooden cabin and hearing a bear outside the window would be cool.

It would make a good skin to collect, a bear rug for your floor.

Pessimistic take
Not really. I'm just saying what they've already told the community. 6-8 of months of Early Access isn't nearly enough time to do such things to this game on top of fixing the boatload of problems this game already suffers from. Unless this game stays in development for some few years, this stuff isn't going to happen. That's not pessimism. That's being a realist.

The only way this stuff is going to happen is if the modding community makes it happen and even that is going to be a long shot because we don't even know if this game's going to get steam Workshop support. My guess is it's not going to get it.
