It is very possible depending on your job or not (ex.: retired), or having a job allowing it!
Besides, if it is the Steam timing, it does not mean you played for 438h but simply that the launcher/ game was open and perhaps idle while you eat, exercise or sleep!
Time flies if, like me, you use +50% of your time for building/fighting/collecting things...
The rest is exploring, or trying new games and modes from snow start or pond start, in hard mode or realistic time, or simply forgetting to exit the game when going away...
I enjoy the world and the core gameplay is enjoyable to me. I took my sweet time on my first few playthroughs and tried to experience everything as spoiler free as possible. I've done Normal, Hard, Hard Survival and currently doing a custom difficulty with a few dev commands just for fun. I really hope they focus on fixing the important issues in the next update before adding more filler content. The game has so much potential if a little care is put into it.
Any game that allows you to build really gets me going. i put on music and can just build for hours. I have thousands of hours in Space Engineers, 7 Days, No Man's sky, The Forest, etc. Building is my thing.
