I also had the waves, after wave even whitout killing anyone or starting to build. It's crazy xx.
hauling logs gonna be a problem if u dont have ropegun.. u can set up tarp and explore caves and tell Kelvin to build cabin by the time u get both re breather and ropegun .. Kelvin would have built it ..
also build fish trap near drinking water and ur all set to camp however long u want.. cannibals have hard time attacking beach spots especially if u build on shallow water at beach..
also they require blocked LOS to spawn.. so in big open area like beach they have to spawn from farway and you can literally spot them marching from faraway...
If you really want to build in middle of forest then u have to patrol a 50mt radius and destroy any canibal camp in area.. otherwise u will get non stop raids every morning.
Find first a place to set a camp, "safe place" not in the forest for sure lol. So i went to beaches and set near the trees to be close to logs.
Second, dont waste many time to build an huge fortress unless you are an arquitect lol. So i did my own building very simple and fast. then i waste more time in defense system here is were you need spend a bit more time.
-defense wall then outer encirclements of spikes! (they work amazing against cannibals and mutants)
Believe me after i did that i survived way much longer and still playing and even resisted that mutant that i slike an huge rubber band walking( this guy killed and destroy me in my first time) Now he dies on my spikes craved with my long distant arrows :D
After you make a good defense area, you can enlarge your main house and go to quests :D
one more note: after setting my spike walls, i deployed some traps around it, cannibals dont even get a chance :D
in forest literally they home. U should avoid that before u found all useful still to defend urself soo I dont see any wrong in that
ur sec team came here before u probably destroy them sooo they wont see any of u like some tourist
maybe start a new "custom game".
do u know that u can save the game? use that silver-tarp (with sticks) to build a
sleeping-place. there u can save the game.
and the bow (craftable) is very good - one headshot -
and the "normal" cannibals are dead...
(if u fight with the axe - be patient - right mouse click is blocking -
dance a little bit with them)
If you're referring to my post then no, nothing was exaggerated. If you're not experiencing that then fine, and maybe I accidentally missed a camp nearby or something, but I'm not BSing for the sake of making a point.
But thank you for the advice, I'll try it out.
I've started a new normal game, trying to find a spot and seeing if going straight defensive walls and spikes helps. If not, I'll check out a custom game.
I do know about saving, but to be honest I didn't really want to try and salvage that save. I don't particularly like save-scumming in survival games. I did get myself a bow by the time I was trying to set up my little log cabin, but I didn't have feathers for arrows unfortunately.
I will try blocking more. To be honest, the normal cannibals weren't a problem to deal with, but the big boys just knocked me TF out. Both times I faced them.
I wouldn't try to melee them, they have too much reach. Luckily they just stand there trying to intimidate you, this opens them up to a headshot with the bow. Keep them at a distance.
The little dirty tree-hugging hippies can likewise be dispatched with a few spear pokes, though they tend to run far away if you hurl a non-fatal spear into them, which leaves you either having to chase them down or craft a new spear.
if you've not played The Forest, you'll likely get overwhelmed as you're not going to be familiar with the game, its particularities or its mechanics, so it's understandable if your first venture turns bad quickly. You will get the hang of it.
Meleeing them is not a good idea, since they are so strong to power through your attacks. It can be done with lots of back and forth with good timing and spacing but it´s way easier to deal with them with a bow at least until you get your strength up and get a better weapon like the katana. Arrows to the head work wonders and they are easy targets when they stand there posing or when they run directly towards you.
its why i dont build on the forest, i go near beach :D to avoid muddy cannibals
But that shouldn't be the solution, i shouldn't have to reset my game a 100 times just to get the beach spawn, so i can maybe play the game. the previous game, you had time, to build a base, to get built up, to understand how the game worked. to actually be able to defend yourself. even with the normal forest i disliked how the cannibals worked. but at least back then you still had time before you were attacked, at most maybe you had to fight 1-2 cannibals every now and again. before things started to slowly ramp up with the bigger cannibals. now i cant even collect resources for basic things before im surrounded by 10 muddies.
