Can we place stairs Next to walls ??? (update: you can its just over complicated, check discussion)
Can we place stairs Next to walls so we can build nicer looking stairs, we used to be able to do this, but with the new update it adds the slanted walls to fill triangle wall gaps (which look nice btw) but unfortunately this makes building a full wall next to stairs impossible now

You can, you just need to build the stairs first, then the wall

I sill haven't been able to do this since the update lol. i keep trying to build a log going upwards at the end of the stairs but it keeps trying to prop the slanted log up ;-;

You can't. When it does work, it's because the build system bugged out. The problem is that you would have to overlap logs so that they are clipping into each other for this to work and the game won't allow you to do it unless you exploit the build system.

Having vertical logs inside the walls just for stairs and supports is pretty annoying. You can't even add a full vertical log if the wall is already built. Hopefully gets patched.

It used to work fine, but since we now got the new apex structure, its not possible anymore to build stairs next to walls / walls next to stairs.

It will always only allow the new Apex structure:

@Endnight
It would be cool if we could right click to change which structure we want to place (either a full wall or the new apex)

I agree that stairs should be able to be built next to walls for sure. I'm just saying that the way the build system is intended to work doesn't allow for it. It's probably an oversight.

I have two sets of stairs in my build, on one set stairs i could put a wall where you are talking about I went to do the other set of stairs and couldn't place the wall. it was just filling in the pieces like an apex.. I like the new apex fillers but their needs to be a right click option to choose either Filler or wall.

Yeh this definitely needs addressing. Hard to find fair comments like this with all the people crying about adding game features that would take years to add

I had to put a space between my stairs and main structure and then connect them. they arent touching the wall but I use the space for my firewood piles

The stair system needs reworking. I had to almost gut my base just to get the stairs in correctly because it was impossible to put down slanted logs inside my building until I had to put them the exact middle of the room which I really don't like. They need to be against walls for sure.

If it's not possible because of other systems, then they should add other stair options and/or ladders.

Yes please solve this with high priority

you just need the right build order to do it, i posted a video in this thread showing how

So it's an "order of operations" thing...
You place the angled one first, then the bottom and vertical and it treats it as a wall but still has the diagonal log for stairway use.

I'd still prefer a right click option for ease, but at least it's something.
