Virginia always leads me to nothing?
She regulary wants me to follow her but if i do, we always just run randomly into the woods until we see an enemy and she forgets about everything or she just stops at some point and does her idle dance or whatever but there is nothing around to see.

If this not properly implemented yet or am i missing something?

Her AI seems really wonky, post patch. I had her running away from me, for 2 days, while having a gift in her hands (to give to me).

Unless her relationship level with you is high enough she will still get scared and run away when temping to gift you something for the first couple of times if she feels threatend by you if you have a weapon equipped or approach her too fast.

she will also lead you to items you already have picked up, like the stun stick for example, which do respawn after reloading a save but are invisible for you if the item is already in your inventory.

Thats all BS. I know thats how it's SUPPOSED to be, but it doesnt work that way. It's totally random, and you need to save & exit game for it to work properly. Thats just buggy BS.

It worked exactly like that no problem in my savegame by unequipping weapons when she approached since otherwise she ran away and by killing cannibals near her. No reloading required. By day 4 or 5 she decided to sit at my campfire and I could interact with her inventory.

Hi I surely can tell you what the problem is because I encountered the same problem several times and found out why she often stops while leading you somewhere.

As soon as Virginia comes too close to a cannibal she will stop. If there wouldnt be any cannibals around then she would lead you to a nearby location where you can find stuff for example the modern axe or an old helicopter with some cases around. Nothing special. How did I find out? So, Virginia wanted me to follow her many times already and we started at a huge sea. That means she needs to run around and on her way is a cannibal camp. We never passed that camp because of the cannibals. It got winter and the huge sea were frozen. She directly lead me over the frozen ice to the location of a crashed helicopter on the other side. Thats it. She will just show you locations you propably dont know yet.

Actually that would be pretty nice because i'm horrible in finding stuff in this game... she actually lead me to the helicopter wrack one time where you get the silencer (i forgot about that).
But in 3 miltible hour sessions with her as a friend this was the only time the arrived somewhere with me. And she honstly ask me every 10 minutes to follow her.
The fact that a simple encounter with a cannibal disrupts her and she will abort the mission is just silly.
There are cannibals everywhere depending on your location on the map. The way it is now this (in theory) very useful feature just doesn't work.

Nope, it's not BS. worked exactly like that for me every time.
The first few times when she wants to gift you something she is very insecure, you need to put away your weapon and idealy not even move, everything might spook her away.

I think you guys are confused. I've played through this game 3 times. It doesnt work the same for everyone, every single time.
My first few times worked fine. Post patch, not so much. I'm just calling attention to it. Just because it works for you now, doesnt mean it's not bugged.
Stop claiming that starving ppl don't exist, because you're full.

If it's bugged for you that doesn't mean "that's all BS!"...
Pretty much every aspect of the game is bugged for someone, it's early access.
Doesn't mean nothing works.
Stop claiming everyone is starving just because you're hungry.

Are you positive that Virginia is actually wanting you to follow her? She'll just come and watch you at times, sometimes just dance around. If you approach her peacefully without any weapons out, does she put her hands up gesturing stop or stay back or is she actually using the beckon gesture?

She definetly gestures me to follow, she even runs slower if she wants you to follow so you can easily keep up with her.

Probably unplanned behaviour on Virginia's part due to some mechanics still being lacking in and around this area of the game then.

Virginia was a bit buggy before the patch and there was a few pathfinding adjustments to her to help deal with getting stuck or stuck in pathing loops. Did this behaivour only start showing up post the last patch?
